Update on my illness...

as a few of you know i went to the doc last thurs and was diagnosed with pneumonia.
well i went back to the doc today for my followup.
well apparently i don't have pneumonia. i have bronchitis. they gave me a breathing treatment in office along with a shot in the ass of some steroids.
so now in addition to the rest of my "pneumonia" antibiotics, i have to use an inhaler every 4-6 hrs, i have some cough medicine with codeine so i can sleep, and i'm now on a 15 day prednisone steroid treatment.
and the hits just keep on comin!

Sorry to hear you are under the weather. My Larry gets bronchitis every year. His doc told him after you have it once you are more highly susceptible to catch it again. Be care and let me know if you need anything...chicken soup?

AaronM 03-20-2007 12:07 PM

Pneumonia and bronchitis suck but when I read the thread title, I expected much worse. Sorry for your discomfort but at least you were not diagnosed with Cancer......Look at the bright side. :)

tony286 03-20-2007 12:14 PM

Avoid usage of steroids. They can mask any noticable inflamation. You said you are using corticosteroidal inhalator, so I suppose you are having asthma, not bronchitis (this is asthma treatment). Bronchitis is viral/bacterial infection (should be treated with antibiotics if it's cause is bacteria, and if not, antibiotics could be used for precaution), and asthma is just a responsive reaction (bad response of organism to possible alergents). In case it is bronchitis, I suggest you to insist on usage of (organic) antibiotics for precaution (try penicilines, avoid usage of synthetic ones, which can cause diggestive problems, unless you have alergy to penicilines). I'll add a regular dose of brochodilatators (Ventoline - generic name Sulbutamol) instead of steroides, to help you with breathing problems. If your problems don't stop in 7-8 days (chronic bronchitis), give a sample of sputum (lung spit), to discover the cause. Try to use Vitamine C in higher dosages in any case, to improve the defensive response of your organism. There's nothing to worry! I'm sure everything would be just fine very soon! :)

Marshal 03-20-2007 09:54 PM

Try to browse Wikipedia on both of the diagnosis, you'll feel better! :winkwink:
