and anyone making money from myspace pushing anything mainstream ?

donkevlar 03-19-2007 11:41 PM

I've made money off myspace... From selling my group(s)' cd's and digital downloads.

But it's different now, myspace is so saturated with bullshit in all categories. With music its just a bunch of bands with auto commenters advertising their "next hot track" or whatever and thus no one even bothers to read anything.

I'm hoping to push my design biz to strickly myspace. I think the clients are alot better and easier to work with. Plus, my style of design is perfect for it as it caters to some wicked conent organization. myspace.com/moddogbods - finished that one a couple days ago. Still have a couple more to finish before I put up the design pages with my port/prices and what not. I'll prob post here once I'm done. But don't hold your breath, between opening a new TGP, redoing another one, and shooting content for + the building of a new solo site --- It might be awhile before I get to the myspace designing.

I would think it has to be really tough unless you have a page that people are visiting every day. For instance, if you have a witty blog that people like to read. I logged in the other day and had 5 pages of friend requests, and every one was either a cam whore or someone trying to give me a free iPod. With all of the auto friend adders no one really pays much attention to bulletins anymore.

I have seen some pages similar to some of the websites of marketing gurus (like marketingtips.com) that I imagine are probably monetizing their page pretty well. People might be more inclined to take a look at a Myspace page than a marketing site.

Marketing cell phone tones.... works like a charm...

BAKO 03-20-2007 02:34 AM

Just the thought of that makes me want to shoot myself

Sarah_Jayne 03-20-2007 04:14 AM

I can see how it can be done but every time I set out to do it my attention span hinders my efforts. Plus, I just don't like how many underage people are on there if I am going to be promoting there.

I try and avoid MySpace altogether. I hate it.

Even if i could make some money from it, i'd still hate it...
