I see just about every webmaster claiming to be an SEO specialist but most have zero programming knowledge or even a basic understanding of how the engines and human social input work into the google factor

maybe you can answer a question for me then. Why would someone that is this good at SEO work for other people? Wouldn't you make a lot more money if you focused your efforts on your own projects?

I always base my rates on the industry. If you are optimizing for a local bed and breakfast chances are you won't need to use "blackhat seo techniques" to show your client kickass results.

Most professional SEO's have both corporate clients and their own networks.

SEO is a service just like any other service...yeah I can, and do work on my own stuff but that dosent stop me from fixing your car as well

the way i see it... if you are phenominal you can convert whatever comes @ you... and if someone is paying u 3k they have to be making at least $3000.01 to make it worth anything.... chances are its a Lot more... why wouldnt you just do it for yourself?

basically i guess im saying that because the guy makes more than he invests in you, the difference is money you have lost and it makes no sense to me why u would let that go when u have the ability @ ur finger tips?

Maybe he lacks in design sensibilities or doesnt know programming, perhaps he doesnt want to deal w/the hassle of living and dying by the Serps.

I can think of a lot of reasons why someone would exploit a particular skill of theirs and allow it to be part of a total solution for someone else.

Just because I am really good at one thing doesnt mean i would have the skills sets (or desire) to peice together the total package.

you start a thread to brag. you then claim to be a genius at generating search engine traffic (going so far to make the claim of being one of the few that actually know)... then you plead ignorance in not knowing how to monetize that traffic, to rationalize selling SEO services... the latter of course, an odd position, which would cast well placed doubt on your original claim.

at the end of the day, if you had a truly unique talent as you claim for SEO, you would be too busy making money to be charging others 3000.00 to do it for them.

I think your price is fair honestly... If you are getting your clients results and they are happy then that is all that matters... If you find they are to happy, raise em up a bit, if you find they are not happy, lower them a bit :2 cents:



As far as some of these people saying to do it for yourself... I understand why you don't, it is more motivational to work for a client that is cutting a check versus working on your own projects, they seem to not get done... :upsidedow
