Selling Myself
I originally posted this in the Sell and Buy forum back in January. Although I did receive some interest I wasn't able to find a proper fit with a legitimate company. I figured I would give this one more shot before I go back to running adult bookstores...
I see numerous posts from people looking for employment but they usually only consist of one or two lines (i.e. "I need work, hit me up :thumbsup "), with no real attempt made to sell themselves to a potential employer. Well, I apologize in advance for the length of this post, but I am currently seeking employment and feel I should distinguish myself from the others on this board looking for the same. I believe the best place for me to start would be with my past experience. I have over 10 years experience in the adult industry, although the vast majority is in running adult bookstores and strip clubs. In that time I also assisted in running a warehouse that distributed product to over 50 adult bookstores in both the US and Canada. In performing those duties I believe I have developed sales and customer service skills that are second to none. In December of 2005 the ownership group I was employed by started to divest itself of all of it's adult businesses in favor of mainstream nightclubs. The 15 stores and 2 strip clubs I ran were split up and sold to various private owners, and the one I was based out of was sold to a large national chain. Although I was offered an excellent position in the new nightclub venture, I had previously spent over a year in Memphis, Tn., opening the first of these nightclubs (I will provide the club URL on request) and had already made the determination that running nightclubs was not for me. As I was a long time employee with the previous ownership group my high salary did not fit in with the salary structure of the new one. When I realized the best I was going to do was take a huge pay cut and only run one store I decided to help them train a new staff and left in March of last year. In the past year I have worked for several online interests, doing mainly on and off camera work and recruiting of models. I have also recently done a fair amount of writing, including blog entries, web copy, text descriptions, forum populating, etc. All of this time I have been trying to determine what exactly is my niche. Several years ago I had a financial interest in a major single girl site and I have always kept abreast of the goings on in the industry. I've been a regular attendee of the Internext since the IA 2000 in Miami back in 1999, although I was generally too busy with my other responsibilities to explore any online opportunities. I'd really like to secure employment with an established company that I can grow with. I feel my past experience would allow me to best help a company in terms of sales, webmaster/affiliate relations, marketing, promotions, general customer service/support, etc. Admittedly my technical skills still need a lot of work, but I am working hard to address those shortcomings and am confident I could contribute to a company in that aspect in the future. While you may easily find someone with more online experience you would be very hard pressed to find someone that works harder. I have never been one to cash a paycheck I didn't earn and I don't plan on starting now. If you are interested and would like to talk further to see if we are a fit you can reach me via ICQ at 432-524-419, or e-mail at sinisterbanana ::at:: gmail ::dot:: com. Thank you for taking the time to read my obscenely long post and I hope to get the opportunity to make someone here a top notch employee. |
One of the better "I need work" posts. :)

I am still interrested in you... But we could never establish solid contact!
BTW, the plan would be just a little bit different this time around, and we are nicely established now with a steady flow of unsolicited business, just look at design threads... You will find no spam from us :) |
A BUMP for the morning crowd.

Louis has done several contract gigs for CamSpot / CamSpotCash and has always been on top of things and has even REMINDED me to give him more work several times when he ran out.
He would be an asset to any company that is looking for a dedicated full-timer to grow with them and be molded into the employee they want. He's pulled 12 hour days for us without having to be asked and never complained or even implied a request for overtime or any additoinal compensation... he accepted specific tasks and did everything in his power to make sure things were delivered on time. Not many people that work from home have this quality, its way too easy to be lazy and break schedules in the net biz... thats one thing I can't stand. Good luck man, if anyone wants to ask me anything about Louis' work ethic and/or dedication just hit me up and I'd be glad to fill you in on as much as I can! |

How come everytime you say you will contact me I never hear from you? That really amazes me :disgust Anyway, my phone number is to the left, if you get voicemail, leave a number where I can reach you and you will be able to talk.... If we can get solid comunication down and you start getting ahold of me when you say you will I have a great position waiting for you, as you know I have a program within months of launching and I am not gonna have time for ASD anymore, I am actually thinking of training my mother in running it and bringing her to the board, but if we can work something out then it would be great for both of us :thumbsup |
A bump for prosperity

Actually, the facts are right here in this thread... You say you will contact me a certain day and time, but then you don't.. That is the same thing you did in the past, that is leaving someone hanging :2 cents: If I did that to my clients we would not be as successfull as we are, matter of fact, that is what makes us so successful is because I always do what I say I will and never say I will do something that I am not gonna do.. Anyway, no hard feelings, good luck with what ever you do in life :thumbsup |

When you posted in my thread I told you I would contact you that night, and I did the next night. I told you via ICQ that it had nothing to do with not wanting to speak to you, and I just wasn't interested in what you were offering. You replied that you felt that wasn't businesslike and I didn't bother replying back since I had no interest in arguing with you. I don't need a lesson in what is and what isn't businesslike from you or anyone else. I have glowing references from over 10 years in this business, albeit mostly in a different sector, and I don't appreciate you coming in here and implying otherwise. The one thing I have afforded myself is the ability to not have to take the first offer that is thrown my way, and I choose not to work for someone that conducts themself they way you have. That is pretty much all I have to say about the issue. It might help your business in the future to exude some of the professionalism you accuse others of lacking. |
