motherfucker, things they dont tell you when selling you a porsche

just found out that 2 new tires are going to run close to $600, few weeks ago found out an oil change was $260 and you have to make an appointment

i found this out when i just showed up at the dealership from some snooty lady

and they tried to sell me window tint for $800

im not a baller, just like fast cars, but i dont like paying more for something than i have to, i dont like those prices

Sosa 03-17-2007 09:24 AM

gotta do your research. It's a known thing with higher end cars.

slapass 03-17-2007 09:26 AM

Wait until you try to put a golf bag in it or a person 6 feet tall.

JamesK2 03-17-2007 09:27 AM

That's a given when buying a Porsche.

Performance tires are going to cost more on any car. You can probably go order the tires from tirerack.com and get them much cheaper and then pay discount tire or a tire shop like that to put them on cheap. Sometimes those tire shops will match the price too so you dont have to order them.

Oh booo fucking hoooooo.. If you can't handle the maintenance, or don't like the costs, then you shouldn't be buying an "exotic" car.. Go buy a fucking Mustang GT if you just want to go fast.

thanks again

If you just like to go fast, why didn't you buy a Corvette C6 Z06?

ajapub 03-17-2007 09:52 AM

Porsches are a money pit. A lot of mechanics won't even work on one. Find yourself a good contact for Porsche parts and services (they usually specialize in BMWs and Mercedes). If you can't find one, expect to pay out the nose for any little thing that your Porsche requires.

You can get your oil changed anywhere, you just need to bring your own filter ;) When I had mine the nearest dealership was 170 miles from my house. Fuck that.

$600 for 2 tires is cheap . . a set for my car is $1500 . . oil change is about $80 . . would never get tint at the dealer . . my tint was about $150

I have a porsche boxster, i am 6'1" and fit fine. I believe porsche can fit 6'4"(not 100% sure)

Oil changes vary from dealer to dealer. I found a porsche dealer that is east of me instead of west and is the same mileage more or less and is $190 for the oil change. Plus you only change the oil once or twice a year depending on how many miles and weather conditions...

Tires are very expensive. I have the 19"rims and i believe i paid over $2k for tires....

Wait till you have to do a brake job : (

he-fox 03-17-2007 10:31 AM

change the oil yourself, dude.

bobby666 03-17-2007 10:38 AM

porsche is a cheap car, but the follow up costs may ruin somebody

Peaches 03-17-2007 10:44 AM

When my Dad had his for 4 years, he finally figured out it would have been cheaper to buy 2 and use one for spare parts ;) When it was under warranty for the first 3 years the dealership used give him POS loaners too. I still remember him driving like an Aries or something, lol. He was not pleased and ended his 10 year relationship of Audis and Porsches after that car.

DaddyHalbucks 03-17-2007 10:46 AM

I would never buy one of those cars.

DaddyHalbucks 03-17-2007 10:48 AM

If you are going to buy an expensive sports car, buy a Lambo, a Ferrari, or a NSX.

Don't waste my time with cars that only losers drive.

Seems pretty in line with any high performance car. The wheels on my car are $600 apiece and to change the oil is a couple hundred bucks as well.

The oil only has to be changed every 9,000 miles though, so thats a good thing. :)
