Is St Patricks Day A Huge Holiday In Ireland?
 

or is this another holiday like Halloween that the US blew up into something huge?

The Irish use anything as an excuse to drink to excess and have national pride!

Its a huge holiday round the world practically. But none moreso that in Ireland. Scotland celebrate it pretty big too...but only by going out and getting drunk.

Its pretty big in New York as well.

I wonder if it's like their Mardi Gras.

Drink 'till she's Irish!

I would say it's a big holiday everywhere. I always celebrate it by getting as drunk as possible...well not drunker than my birthday, but close.

mrvids went there on st patricks day and said it was crazy...

Warren would be the guy to ask about that one. I know it's huge here in Vegas!

It's bigger in the US. They think we're nuts for pouring green dye into our city rivers and such. Every Irish person I met in Dublin on St. Patty's said they want to come to the US for it one year.

That said..you can't beat drinking in Ireland no matter what day it is.
They don't even open many restaurants on the dry days (good Fri, etc) because they can't serve.
