Whats the best size moniter for a PC ?

Ok right now i have an 18" LCD and been shopping around for a larger screen and thinking about getting the Sony Bravia 32" Widescreen LCD HDTV.Is this too big for a pc? Im not sure if i could adapt to a moniter almost 2X the size.

I have a 32" Toshiba REGZA but do not plan sitting on top of it at a computer desk. I have it wall mounted with a desk about 4 feet away from the actual wall. The color is amazing and the resolution is unsurpassed from my past experiences. Here is a link, check them out for yourself.

And also, be sure to look up whatever TV/Monitor you ever consider buying at places such as Amazon, CircuitCity, BestBuy, etc. and read buyer's/User's reviews. This has saved me a ton of time, returns, headaches etc. Just a tip :)

For me, 19" is about the maximum I can stomach. It took me a long time to get used to a 19" LCD from a 17" CRT and anything bigger gives me headaches after just a few minutes of use.

I kept it at 19" also, the screen is too close to my eyes to go bigger
maybe when I go widescreen, I'll take a 21"

i think i'm one of the only people who like smaller monitors. i like a little 15 inch

nosey 03-13-2007 07:21 PM

17" is fine for me, but may upgrade to a 19" soon :)

Martin3 03-13-2007 07:30 PM

I've had all different sizes. I think a 24" widescreen is the best for a single monitor.

I have to agree. Seems to be the perfect size for me.

ok let me ask you...Do you find it comfortable to browse the web with a big moniter 4 feet away?or is it better to have a smaller one sitting on your desk?

I was walking around Future Shop and seen this big sony screen loaded with a browser, and for a few seconds i was mesmerized for all the great gaming i could do on my pc since i am a big fan of FPS games(Rtcw and BF Vietnam) although i also need this moniter for work and not sure if i could adjust to bigger text, images and so on.

I use a 20.` Viewsonic (VP201b) that is really nice, with a secondary generic LCD panel (17 inch) for stats, mail, and chat windows. I am considering adding a third monitor.

Really huge monitors (32 inch) will require you to really try it out and see if you can handle looking at it, it might give you some eye strain.

VeriSexy 03-14-2007 05:30 AM

19 suits me just fine

lalika 03-14-2007 05:32 AM

19" non-wide i think with a 1000:1 contrast at least

martinsc 03-14-2007 05:34 AM

2 X 19" is optimal for me....

Onixia 03-14-2007 05:34 AM

Pointless 03-14-2007 05:35 AM

o0o_Lizard_o0o 03-14-2007 05:37 AM

Przemek 03-14-2007 06:15 AM

The bigger the better ;)

Ravage 03-14-2007 06:19 AM

If your going for widescreen layout, 20-24" will do. If you're going for standard 4:3, 19 - 22"

One thing to keep in mind, make sure your video card can support the higher resolutions needed for bigger screens or you're not getting your money's worth out of that monitor.

tranza 03-14-2007 06:42 AM

I have a 19' over here.

Grand Master T 03-14-2007 06:42 AM

I'd say 18 or 19 is enough. Depends - if your gaming maybe more?

Zorgman 03-14-2007 06:56 AM

Im working on a 20" Dell, its perfect for me, but im going to be doing HD video soon so will upgrade to DELL 30". Nice monitor.

Jns999 03-14-2007 09:46 AM

I have 17" and i`m happy :)

Star 69 03-14-2007 11:16 AM

21-23 inches is the best size for me

Th!nk 03-14-2007 01:18 PM

mine is 17'' and it's ok for me so far :)

exanti 03-21-2007 01:39 PM

for me 17 - 19 is ok, but 32? o my god.... :-)

Calico Jack 03-21-2007 01:45 PM

I've had a 19" crt for years now...I'm so used to it that sitting in front of anything else would seem weird.

VicD 03-21-2007 01:48 PM

17" (laptop) for me is doing fine

Jon Clark - BANNED FOR LIFE 03-21-2007 03:07 PM

I have two 17's, one crt and one lcd... The reason for both styles is so when I inspect designs I can see what they look like on both....

lorine 03-21-2007 03:10 PM

In my opinion,19" is more than enough.Come on,32" isn`t that too much ? A 19" monitor is the ideal solution!

Vick! 03-21-2007 03:54 PM

17" LCD is Ideal, but if you still want to upgrade go for 19" ... but no way more than that.

Its PC not damn TV or Cinema

czarina 03-21-2007 03:55 PM

big, very big
