How to Stop Content Theft (Does Your Sponsor Support It?)

Lot of discussion about content theft of late. Some people have felt the abundance of free content ripped from members area is a reason for low conversions and sales. While many feel it's inevitable and can't be stopped, it can be slowed down and the effect can be negated as much as possible.

Each one of these sites is in business because they are making money somewhere down the pipeline. They are not hosting big sites with tons of free pics because it's fun. So the way to slow these people down is to cut them off at the head and hit them where it hurts the most, their profitability. For that, we need to target the sponsors that allow advertising on their sites.

Lets start at torrent sites like Empornium.us. You can download almost any porn video you want from almost any major paysite. All free, all people who won't pay for a membership at your site or through your affiliate code. Now lets look at who accepts this traffic.

AdultFriendFinder
SilverCash
Python
SexBankRoll
DatingGold
PussyCash
Fleshlight
SexSearch

pornevo.com:
Fling
AdultWebmasterEmpire

KingdomXXX.com:
AdultFriendFinder
Videosz
Fleshlight

PureTNA.com:
AdultFriendFinder

Now I'm not saying these companies support it, they may have no idea they are getting this traffic (although it's sort of hard to believe). But if you want to help slow down these sites, you probably should not be supporting the companies that profit from it. Not only do those companies hurt the paysites by ripping their members areas, but they also hurt affiliates who now have low conversion rates due to this.

No one has to pull links or do anything drastic. But those who truly are concerned with this trend and want to help it stop should promote sponsors who don't support sites that deal in content theft. Support the companies that look out for your bottom line and the future of the industry.

**NOTE: This is a small sample of sponsors out there on torrent/stolen content sites. It took me 5 minutes to pull down that information. Digging deeper would probably find many more companies, these are just the ones I spotted.

That may have been your attempt at a feeble joke, but the courts are not sympathetic towards businesses which attempt to selectively enforce copyrights and/or trademarks.

One of the potential consequences to content owners who, for whatever reason choose to ignore today's content thieves, is that should they decide to go after someone in future, they could find it much harder to do so. That reality will surely tempt someone before long to operate on a much larger scale that any of the current crop of sites.
