For the most part, the only "amateurs" left are what I would consider "professional amateurs". There are some good ones out there, but for the most part they are gone and not coming back.

2257 rules and requirements for a place of record keeping to be publically announced has really put many amateurs off.

I would still consider our site real amateur. 2257 did shake out a lot of sites for sure. But there are still some like us that do everything ourselves. As far as "professional" amateurs, to be successful, you now need to use higher end equipment, software and tools to try and compete against corporate programs / sites, but the essence of the true amateur is still there.

Even Redclouds, which was mentioned earlier, and Voyeurweb are heavily populated with "Quantum" (monthly recurring) sites from their AVS network. There will always be an appeal to some surfers for the more real, more interactive sites that some of us provide. Where they feel they get a glimpse into the private life of the girl.
