Has anyone else noticed that this board has a shit load of more designers then there ever use to be lately or is it just me? I've just recently started to notice this myself.

There are a lot of designers, but once you start shopping for one, you will see more than 75% of their portfolios look identical.
Only a few of them really stand out.
Factor in the houdini's and their disappearing acts, the grandma dying every other month, computer glitches, internet whoa's, and the rest...
you take a field of 100 designers down to half a dozen.

Indeed they are.
I'm always looking for a good one to work on some side projects. But I'm at the point, after being burned over the years, that I rely on recommendations before I'll consider someone.
Don't get me wrong. I'll look at their prices, and work, and all that jazz. But in the end, it comes down to recommendations or a proven track record of delivering on time, and the quality of the work.
If it costs a little more, so be it. But I can't be chasing down the houdini's to get me projects completed.Comment

Don't get me wrong...
I've heard some of the horror stories from designers as well. Some of the vague clients. Those who do not pay. People who want $500 designs for $50 and delivered yesterday. Among other things.
But if you do a search, you'll find plenty of disappearing acts with some out there. Others who take the money and run. Some who don't do good work, or use some of the GFY/designer classics for why something promised in 6 days took 6 weeks/months.
It's unfortunate, but there are plenty of complaints both side of the fence.Comment

Yes there are alot of designers around here, but most of them just spam the board and don't get much work and when they do they fuck it up...
That is why I started ASD, I have a solid team and we play no games, I guess that is why we are always booked and I never have to spam design request threads
