If you have a dog or cat that you care about get a microchip implanted in them. They work for years and years
http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm...atestheadlines Implanted microchip helps reunite dog lost in 1996 with owner A Florida dog has been reunited with its owner six years after it went missing thanks to a microchip implanted under its skin. A woman in Cincinnati found Pooh Bear looking dirty and matted and took the dog to her vet, Cheryl Devine. Dr Devine scanned the chip and found out about her owner Bambi Lesne of Panama City - 620 miles away. Ms Lesne gave up searching for Pooh after three years. "She went everywhere with us. She was like one of my children," she said. She says the 13-year-old black Pomeranian "howled with joy" when they arrived home and it saw her daughter Codi. The dog was handed over in Birmingham, Alabama, the Miami Herald reports. |

imagine a kid getting kidnapped, and the cops turn on the gps and could zoom in on the location and save the kid (that is, of course, until the criminals learn how to cut the chips out or otherwise deactivate them) |
Lojack for kids. I'm for it!:thumbsup

So how much does one of these gps thingys cost?
Got link? |
Lots. They are expensive, although handy, gadgets. For people with dogs, or cats that go out on their own, they are a good idea. They reunite lost pets with owners in shorter times than the average search. For us though they aren't worth it. Our cats don't go out (they don't even want to, we've tried) and can't escape out windows so the microchip thing would be pointless.

Took me 2 boxes of large fries before I got a chip in my cat successfully. Bloody things kept squishing when I tried to push them in.
|
yes, let's start injecting chips to each other, great idea!
|
Why is that such a bad idea? If I had children and I was the only person that has access to tracking the chip, what is the harm in that? Look at the rate of kidnappings in the last month.
