I knew that.

What I do not know is what kind of car it is and what "DSM" means. You read my post wrong.

Im pretty sure a DSM is a turbo eclipse.

And a low 13 second 1/4 mile is quick as hell. The new vette Z06 (LT5 engine) runs mid 12's.

That Vette in the video was a Lingenfelter modded package they offer. No idea how quick that thing was, but I would scream out, "Holy shit!" too if my car ran low 13's and got blown by so quickly by a vette!

Rodent 08-07-2002 08:26 PM

Hahahaha that car got worked like a 2$ whore on a saturday night.

actually a 13 sec. street car is considered average. when you can run 9 -10 secs. on the street, you can be "BAD".

Ludedude 08-07-2002 09:13 PM

Now kids, pay attention...street racing 101 is in session :)

DSM is an abbreviation for Diamond Star Motors referring to the union between Mitsubishi and Chrylser. The offpsring of that arrangement include such ricer specials as the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Plymouth Laser, Eagle Talon and also the Mitsubishi 3000GT and Dodge Stealth twins.

That 'Vette in that video is not a ZO6 but rather a ~700 HP Lingenfelter Z-51 vette (C-4). It's a 383 stroker motor with god knows what else done to it but that's a standard package from John.

A 13 second car is not "average." It's fairly quick compared to the usual brand of ricer civics and integras (turbo variations aside). A low 13 second car will eat any stock Z-28 or Rustang GT for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

If you're in the 11's or better on street tires, then it's bad ass :)

btw a 13 second street car is average. never said the vette in the video was a z06. obviously dsm is trash. lingenfelter builds vettes up to 900hp, which one is that? and most are MUCH larger than 383 "stroker" small blocks. btw, never watched video. street world is MIN. low 12's then you're a chump.

Shooter 08-07-2002 09:39 PM

The largest engine package Lingenfelter offers in the catalog I got last summer is a 383. I'm not gonna go through and look at every page to see if he offers something bigger by itself but that's the biggest engine you can buy in a package in there.

That's a C5 vette.

The new Z06 isn't the LT5 engine. That was the engine for the C4 (1983-1996) I believe. The new Vette (C5) is on the LS1, the new Z06 is on the LS6.

I believe Z51 is just a performance axle package also.

J.R. 08-07-2002 10:28 PM

My Vette will take nearly any car on the road!
if not, my JAGUAR S - Type R may :)))

Dildozer 08-07-2002 10:29 PM

My bad, I confused the Z51 handling package with the older C4 ZR-1 Vette, so yeah it is a C5 in that vid.

Lingenfelter actually does make big block Vette packages now so 383 is no longer the biggest displacement.

HQ 08-08-2002 04:33 AM

(EDIT: Sorry, but Ludedude already answered these questions, but I'll leave my post up anyway.)

I have some answers. I emailed the owner of the site, and this is what he said:

The Z06 Vette does not have the LT5 engine. It has the LS6 engine. Also, that was not a Lingenfelter Corvette, but a DRM Doug Rippie Motorsports) Corvette. DSM stands for "Diamond Star Motors" which was basically a partnership between Chrysler and Mitsubishi. DSM refers to the cars that came about due to this partnership, like the 3000 GT VR4/Stealth VR4, Eclipse/Talon, etc. That specific car was a Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. I hope this wasn't too much info. I'm just a car nut and figured I'd clarify some of the questions people have on your board.

hahmike 08-08-2002 04:41 AM

holy jesus, that corvette is tight as shit. but i'd take a db7 over it anyday, much nicer looking i think. or maybe i'm just fucked up hehehe. saw one on the road the other day, amazing car. :thumbsup

bellskids 08-08-2002 04:46 AM

havent you guys seen fast and furious, you need a 10 second car to be taken seriously... i hate that film with a passion

HQ 08-08-2002 04:50 AM

To be taken seriously, it all depends on your location. You only need a 15 second car in this town to be BAD. :)

How many 9 second cars have you seen? Why aren't there more vids of 9 sec cars on the net? I've seen maybe one. The majority of the fastest are 12 sec cars.

FATPad 08-08-2002 04:52 AM

Only place I ever saw a 9 second car was at the Saturday night drag races they used to have every weekend in one of the towns near where I grew up.

It had to be towed to the place since it wasn't even street legal.

13 seconds is a fast car. The only place that would be "average" would be Vetteville, USA.

ldinternet 08-08-2002 05:05 AM

That does it, I'm getting a fucking Corvette. Beautiful car, and extremely rare over here. Jam a lawnmower engine in there... doesn't matter... fast or no fast, the looks alone are enough.

If only they'd let me test drive one first. :BangBang:

Juge 08-08-2002 05:40 AM

A lingenfilter (sp?) vette was timed at 9.25 or 9.50 in the quarter mile. A normal C5 vette gets low 13 second times, or very high 12 second times, at best.

Someone was talking about souping up a vette on this board earlier. I think it might have been Wizzo or another Adult.com crew member... can't remember. I wonder if this guy has the same mods?
