I watn to buy a DVD player with HDMI interface because DVD players wich are support High Definition DVD is not for lase in Russia right now and i am curious if you have a TV with HDMI and DVD payer with HDMI but it's not ready for paying High Definition DVD's it usefull to buy such player and wath just regular DVD's thru HDMI cable, is the quality will be better?

I have an HD DVD player that upconverts regular DVD's to make use of the better resolution, and that function only works with HDMI cables.
For viewing HD DVD's, component cables look the same/better to me. HDMI is all digital, so it either works or doesnt work. So go with a $20 cable IMHO. |

I wouldnt spend $300 on an HDMI cable..
IMHO, HDMI does not make a better looking picture. I know one person who's professional installation service even recommends component over HDMI. HDMI is required for upconverting though because of copy protect stuff, thats the only thing I use it for, and the $20 cable works perfect for that. If you have a need for it, then that settles it I guess. |
