Do all ipods suck?

I have 3 video ipods and not one will play a video. One the screen is fucked up, one is asking to be restored and mine only plays music with no video....

I keep resetting and restoring the one. Nothing justs asks to be restored. These things need more attention then a dog.

My nano has never given me an issue.

Tat2Jr 03-06-2007 05:23 AM

I don't want to jinx myself, so I'm not going to comment on how mine works.

J. Falcon 03-06-2007 05:43 AM

Why have I read only bad things about them?

J. Falcon 03-06-2007 05:45 AM

Like everyone here for example. Are these guys just haters or what:

I think they are great yet fucking rubbish. You know what my biggest wish for them is? To have a simple on/off switch. That seemingly simple concept appears to have been totally overlooked on the ipod video.

you hold the play/pause button down for 3 seconds.

It occrus to me that the only reason we do not all switch to these things, is it is so easy to buy a cd and put it in and hit play.

Are you re-encoding the videos with iTunes first? The videos have to be converted to the h.263 format. Make sure they play fine on your computer first, I've found iTunes doesnt always convert the videos properly, depending on the source format.

My iPod works just fine, I mainly just use it for its tv-out capabilites :thumbsup

I never knew that IPods can break up so fast.I was planning on getting one of those but I`ve changed my mind...

Anywho i have an old mini and it works great. I actually just won in a "Text 2 Win"contest a free 80gb video ipod and it is great too.

MikeVega 03-06-2007 12:30 PM

I have an original 20gig ipod .. my wife had a Mini and i just bought her a Nano. the mini was the only one that has had problems ( that's why she got the Nano)

For movies i think the PSP is the best .. I put Music / Pics / Movies and play games on it .. nothing beats it when traveling. but for the gym or something you need the small MP3 player

Yeah thats all very well but you only have to accidentally brush the pad thing or fart near mine and it switches back on. Seriously, in all the years of development of electronic goods a simple on/off switch which cuts out the power has always done the job.

All of the music and videos came from itunes. It used to work, it just doesn't anymore. Actually of the three this is the best one as it still plays music at least. I am not the most gentle guy and this thing travels in the bottom of my bag. I have never had a cell phone crap out. i use the Razor and they are pretty fragile or so i have heard. These things are really just crap.

u-Bob 03-07-2007 03:42 AM

John: My iPod just broke.
Jane: What did you do to it?
John: I turned it on.

PHP-CODER-FOR-HIRE 03-07-2007 03:44 AM

beta-tester 03-07-2007 05:21 AM

my 60GB Video iPod works just fine ;)

Trax 03-07-2007 06:10 AM

they are built to last 24 months
i can 99% assure you that your ipod will fuck up shortly after that time
cuz they are engineered to do so

2.4 months is more of my average. Why do i always feel better when others have the same problem? It does nto solve my issue but i quit worrying that it is me.

Well, iPods are a bit different... they have actual hard drives inside them, with spinning platters and everything. Need to be more gentle with those than you do a phone, with solid state flash memory. If you have a Nano or the Shuffle, you can throw those around pretty good, because they are flash memory as well.

Its like carrying around the hard drive in your PC with you... they aren't gonna last long very long if they get bumped around too much.

s9ann0 03-07-2007 09:11 AM

I think flash players are better
i use my laptop for films

Drake 03-07-2007 10:35 AM

TG Rebecca 03-07-2007 10:45 AM

i've never had a video ipod, i just have had two shuffles and i love them with all my heart. :) the only reason i had to buy another one is because my dog ate my first one!

Gentle_Ben 03-07-2007 11:21 AM

mine is nothing more than an expensive paper weight now

the alchemist 03-07-2007 11:22 AM

I had mine for almost 3 years now and it still has 6 hours of battery life, at least, and works perfectly....I am in the 1% I guess, because all my friends have issues with theirs

I just got a 30gb Zune and I was an ipod fan until this thing....amazing features on this thing that is for sure...I am sold and no longer an ipod fan :)

Viper2K1 03-07-2007 11:39 AM

I gave in and got myself a nano ... no problems yet, but not worth the money IMHO

CynthiaB 03-07-2007 11:51 AM

My son's ipod broke within six months, stopped playing through one side of the headset, which I see by the Internet is a common problem and they refused to fix it under warranty saying he must have broken it with a heavy blow. Bull. I hate ipods.
