78 Class C's
Whew, what a task.
Had to give a quote to someone that wanted "as many C's as possible" so I have spent most of the day going thru all our virtual and VPS servers to see how many C's we actually had free IP's on. 78 . . . not too shabby. :) |
And? What was the number quoted? :)
|
I dealt with ARIN before (i'm an IT guy)... you gotta give them some reasons.. ehehe

My guess would be that none of these IP's are actually in your name, but rather you are just a reseller of other hosts and they have assigned some of their ip's to you? Just my guess:2 cents: :2 cents:

I have many people try to figure out how we do what we do . . . I don't repond to any of them. |
That's pretty nice...
|
45 Class C's so far for me.
how many name servers? |

In other words, if we have the same 10 C's on three different servers, we have 30 NS just for them. |
Just a curiosity question - have you ever done a test side by side to see if it made any real difference - Ive always had a bunch of different Bs and Cs but didnt see any noticable difference?

Rackco use to be also listed in spamhaus's rosko DB. |

78 is not a big number, compared to what some hosts own.
class c's are small time, class b amd class a's are where its at |

i think if you do a bit of a gfy search you can see a thread about who they resell for...cant remember for the life of me tho
but i could be mistaken baddog - what if someone wanted to be a client of your's ... you would not tell them who is providing the class c's ? |

this is the thread i was talking about and fris accused them of just being a reseller for oc3 networks i dunno anything bout hosting tho i am just +1 my post count ' |

you bought them from ARIN ? ignore me if im not making any sence at all i dont know shit bout hosting:1orglaugh |
saying you get "them from us "
is like saying the store creates the apples you are buying when they are just reselling them |
spamhaus <-- keyword for google LOL :-) j/k

Gee, to route 78 Class Cs, you'd need an ASN, or at least a rented router..

From what I have read and heard he resells for quik-host and also now oc-3. The thing is that these ip's are not really his so if for whatever reason the real owners of the ip's get into any issues with Arin, or baddog, these ip's can be shut off with out a moments notice and baddog couldn't do a thing to stop it.:2 cents: |
I love how everyone speculates.
I have an idea . . . find a complaint from one of our clients. That would be impressive. |
It doesn't really matter who he hosts with. Many hosting companies have ip's you wont see from their ASN. Especially if they are very diverse across several locations and many providers. All that matters is the quality of service and the results of the intended mission you set out to accomplish.

There are some seriously clueless replies here.
GFY has definately gone downhill... Baddog has got an awesome service going... He knows how it works and that it works, why would he discuss/debate it here for all the chicken heads to read? |
Quote:
Personally he has bagged our service before so I guess you can add him to the same list you are complaining about. |

so what is the point. I don't get it. Were you looking for a post count +1 by making this post? was this an attempt to spam your services hoping people who need ips will hit you up? Where you looking to brag? Just simply saying that you loaded in 78 class c's or whatever don't be surprised at the types of questions / replies you have gotten. If you are more clear next time maybe you wont get so many questions. Unless you were looking for some attention and to argue because that is what you have succeeded in doing . |

We don't disagree with him at all, but you need to read and comprehend, not just see. |

http://ws.arin.net/whois/?queryinput=N%20.%20RACKCO either that or your claiming 78 class's that you have bits and parts of, in other words you get a request, go back to say BTN and say Hey i need another /28 for dns, mail a few ssls etc. Its not hard to request a /28 and ask BTN to forward the in-addr's to your new nameservers so you can control the rdns on that new range. So in other words you have 78 free class C's, and you don't do your own routing or have a redundent setup that runs bgp? clearly if you had an outage even one core going down you would failover to your other core. You don't drink your own kool aid? |

Multiple C's are overrated.
|
damn... sounds like a nice setup...
|
Glad to hear business is good, Lloyd. For the non-believers, here's some of the class c's baddog's talking about. (There's more in the back)
