Ray from Kimbo's Crew takes on MMA fighter

In a bare knuckle fight.

I guess nobody told Ray that MMA fighter Jorge "GameBred" Masvidal, who just beat Berger on BoDog a week or so ago can fight. :)

That second scrap was good..some nice hooks

GTS Mark 03-02-2007 12:21 PM

Well he did fight 2 fights back to back and it went for over 5 min.

That is about 4 minutes and 59 seconds longer than I would have lasted LOL!

Ray could fight too, nice spinning backfists, frontkicks and good power in his hands. I'd say his major problem there was conditioning.

Ray should quit thugging out and find a gym, he's for real.

Redmanthatcould 03-02-2007 12:27 PM

First guy went down pretty fast... second guy had much better foot work and stamina was on his side.

Profits of Doom 03-02-2007 12:27 PM

A couple things from that fight...Ray was listed as 200 pounds. Am I the only one that thinks he had to outweigh Jorge by more than 25 pounds? Maybe my eyes are for shit but he looks bigger than 200 pounds. As far as it going over 5 minutes, Jorge took solid shots from a bigger guy and never appeared to be in serious trouble. He would have ended that fight much sooner had they been able to go to the ground. Doesn't Jorge fight for FFA, where Kimbo is also currently training?

Ray should for sure.

You going to be in Cali in May? My fight is May 12th, in Santa Barbara.

Jorge does fight out of FFA, and last I heard was a Brown in BJJ. He's a pro boxer as well. Jorge is the real deal.

Werd on the street is that Kimbo is now out of ATT, that's the skinny I got from my coach. He was in there training.

I personally haven't seen him in there, but most of the Pro's train during the day.

Martin3 03-02-2007 12:31 PM

Good fight. Jorge landed a shit load of body shots, last one made Ray quit.

TheSenator 03-02-2007 12:32 PM

Is it this guy.. http://www.floridamartialarts.com/masvidal.htm

Ray was sandbagged.

emthree 03-02-2007 12:32 PM

White dude dominated that fight

TheSenator 03-02-2007 12:36 PM

Marcos Avellan(trainer of Jorge "GameBred" Masvidal) was submitted by Marcelo Garcia.

DirtyDanza 03-02-2007 12:42 PM

wow that was prolly the best fight I have seen from the kimbo camp..... Ray looked good... Jorge looked good.. that just came down to experience and paitence both fighters faught hard... the best part of the video was the end.... kimbo reminded me of uncle elroy from next friday.... "hold his arms up he alright" I was waiting forhim to say I put many people in that condition... hahaha...

anthony where can we get tickets to come and see ya fight... I'll be the one with the bitches and the signs trying to distract your opp for ya...

DirtyDanza 03-02-2007 12:44 PM

Marcelo is no joke either man. Marcos is a damn good grappler.

Brad 03-02-2007 12:47 PM

decent fight. Ray needs to get in shape and stop swinging for the fences on every punch. And I agree, if that fight could have gone to the ground it would have been done in no time, Ray gave up his back a few times.

Tickets should be going on sale this month. I'll let you know! :)

interracialtoons 03-02-2007 12:49 PM

Ray tired himself out with kicks. You've got to be in good shape to throw a lot of kicks, especially if you miss a lot like he did.

He also turned his back on the other fighter way too much. That's not a good sign. But he still seems like a decent fighter; but I think the other fighter is better overall. The other fighter didn't use many kicks but he probably didn't see the right opportunity to use them for his style in this fight.

I just watched the new Kimbo fight vs. the fat bouncer. I wonder what happened to the Kimbo/Paul Buentello fight they were discussing? As for him training at ATT, no disrespect to FFA, but if Kimbo really wants to make a run at MMA then he is at the right place. Are you training at the main location in Coconut Creek?

Vegas Ken 03-02-2007 12:54 PM

As always... That schiz is crazy.

I agree .. It seems like any fight the kimbo crew loses it's due to conditioning .. If those guys trained for real they could make some real money.

Lance69 03-02-2007 01:09 PM

That was decent actually. They both looked like they had game. It's easy to get sunfucked to, especially after you've already fought once.

I was there to watch that match.

Marcelo is a monster and submitted him by rear naked choke easily.

FFA is a great academy, I agree! Thanks for the props for ATT.

Yep, I train at ATT's main facility. My coach is Emyr "Shark" Bussade, and of course, Ricardo Liborio. :)

I grew up in So Fla and lived in Margate and Coral Springs. I left in like '96 but I would've given my left nut to train at ATT. Damn I remember years ago before UFC came around training Shotokan and Kenpo in Coral Springs, Shotokan by the Coral Square Mall and Kenpo somewhere off Riverside. How times have changed...

Snake Doctor 03-02-2007 01:32 PM

That was a good fight

Nookster 03-02-2007 01:35 PM

Doctor Dre 03-02-2007 07:31 PM

Pretty good weight difference too... Impressive counter punching techniques :)

Kimbo's guy was turning his back all the time thought

Anyone have a link to that?

Anthony. Let me know as well when you are fighting. ReyRey and I will come down. :pimp

FelixFlow 03-02-2007 08:02 PM

ray's got very good hands

the problem with the second fight is he was cocky from his first win, and he abondonded his gameplan that got him the win (good boxing) and started throwing kicks

once fatigue set it (from the kicks), he got sloppy and stopped using his jab...the jab is a very powerful weapon in standup, and ray has a strong & fast jab, when u give up the jab, you give up the advantage you have in reach

giving up this advantage left him open for the smaller guy to come in & start putting hands on ray

good fight from both guys, i wouldn't volunteer to see either one of them!! lol!

:)

soulbleed 03-02-2007 08:03 PM

that second fight was good to watch.

jonesy 03-02-2007 10:02 PM
