Sexsitesurfer 03-01-2007 06:34 AM

What are the demonstrations about?

They weren't using dialogue!!!!!!

AlexN 03-01-2007 06:37 AM

What the hell is their problem? Just ramming people isn't an answer, sometimes.

Looks kind of brutal, but I guess when the guys are throwing bricks and tearing up the city a good talk isn't enough!

Broda 03-01-2007 06:43 AM

It was a house occupied by young squatters. For like 6 years or so.. the owners wanted them out, so out they had to come...

It was a pretty cool police action - they landed a SWAT team (something like that) on the roof with a helicopter, and at the same time they sprayed foam into the house from through the windows.

Nicky 03-01-2007 06:44 AM

The Danes have always been crazy, they talk funny too :-D

I was in Christiania (part of Copenhagen) maybe 7 years ago when the Danish cops raided the place in full riot gear. Scary shit, half the people ran , the other half stood their ground and confronted the cops. I stood around and watched for a bit , when I saw the cops winning (beating up people and arresting them) I got the fuck out of there.

its too bad, Christiania is not the same as it once was..

I also miss our 'Vatican' of weed. I live 20 minutes from it.

I still buy my hash out there though, but since the heavy criminalization of Christiania, the prices per gram have gone up and the quality has dropped.

And even worse, now its practically only 2-3 different kinda hash being sold, not like in the old days where you basically could pick between 300 different types of hash/pot out there.

yes, it's such a shame what happened to Christiania. I don't live in that part of the world anymore, the last time I was over there was 2 years ago. Sadly, last time I was in KBH I took old bus #8 out there and it's true - the vast supermarket of weed and hash was gone! I still am pissed about it.

Michael O 03-01-2007 10:26 AM

A little fighting going on now, the police just made a great move to pin down and arrest a lot of youths throwing rocks, building barricades and vandalizing.

Everyone that used to frequent it is : )

And i agree with Michael, those kids arent "protesters" or anything like. They are fucking terrorists. I still wish that the police would remove them with live ammo, because people like that have no place in the gene pool imo.

Fx, when they didnt get their way, they went out smashing windows on stores in the local area and went nuts with graffiti on the cemetary nearby.

They whine nonstop about the police being rough, but while theyre doing it theyre also throwing two pound rocks at the cops, aiming for the heads. They claim the want a dialogue, but every time anyone suggest anything thats not 100% what the whiny kids want, they up the terror factor and act like babies.

And the most insulting part of it all (imo) is that they all consider themselves hardcore rebels, at least untill around midnight where daddys mercedes with private driver comes to pick them up.

Snot nosed brats, is all they are. You wouldnt give the babies in kindergarten more candy just because they started setting the other kids on fire if they didnt get the candy they wanted.

Michael O 03-01-2007 10:42 AM

more video of the guy they hit.

Denmark has always had their share of rebels, they are a freedom loving people. These groups are known as "autonome" and seems to be a mix of political extremists bundled with 2nd and 3rd generations immigrants, and just your usual suspects always looking to get in trouble..they are kind of similar to the arab/mix groups in Paris burning cars.

BTW, I love Christiania back in the mid 80's, went there often, maanefiskeren was one of my favorite places. There was a great atmosphere, good food, drinks and smokes.

If those had been American police you all would be screaming "fuck the police" and talking about police brutality and how America is a police state. Double standards.

Nobody in USA pulls shit like that, the consequences are too high, the authorities fuck you for life..
Denmark is much too soft. They are known to have prisons where the prisoners gets out on weekends.. and most of them come back by sunday night, afterall they dont want to miss out on a good hot meal, private rooms with color tv's and the sunday evening karaokee event..

The us prisons you gotta walk around with a bullet proof plate in back of your pants..

Until a couple of years ago it wasn't illegal to escape from prison here in Denmark :D

If you did then when you got caught you were put in solitary for a period of time nothing else happened. :upsidedow

Yeah, the atmosphere was what people came back for really. If you have the chance to visit it again because you come to Denmark by chance, then dont. Its a pityful place these days, it really is. Its kinda like that one movie you used to love as a child and then when you see it again as an adult you cant ignore how horrible a movie it is. The memory of it is superior to the actual experience these days :/

But these rebels are NOT like our normal old brand of danish rebels. These are vandals and terrorists. They are NOT like the bunch of people that created Christiania (which is the "old kinda rebels"). I dont know if they are similar to the paris kiddos, but i'm inclined to agree. Senseless violence very much like terrorism because they dont get their way exactley.

Its just a whole lot of "wah wah wah i cant have what im pointing at"-spoiled brat destroying what they can find. Since my previous post I took off for my sisters apartment so i can actually see them from the window right now.

And its not only the 'autonome', but they are also there yeah. But they always love a fight as long as its against any form of authority.

But you really shouldnt even compare them to our good old danish rebels. Thats nothing more than a straight up insult. For example, at Christiania barricades was set up with banners and all that sorta old-school stuff, in support of the new rebels (even though the people of Christiania do not agree with the new rebels), and those were set on fire by molotov coktails from the vandals.

Anyhow, the situation right now is that the police is intercepting the larger groups on their way to Ungdomshuset, like 500m from it, and that leads to a lot of medium-large battles. The immediate area around Ungdomshuset is in a "permanent" haze of teargas at the moment and is planned to be like that probably until next morning. All police is wearing gas masks.

Representatives of Ungdomshuset claims that there are reinforcements on the way, both national and international, but in a way I think thats more bark than bite really. These representatives generally lie a lot more than politicians.

I think most of it will be over tomorrow morning though, and then there will be some follow-up commotion as they try to take over a few other houses.

But I do love how these dumbass kids have been whining "THERE IS ONLY ONE RESOLUTION TO THIS SITUATION" for ages and the second their base is cleared out, they change their tune to "omg we was soooo close to having a peaceful resolution, if only the politicians had taken us seriously!!!!".

But they dont really have any supporters left except themselves, the rest of Denmark dont really like them and the people that live in the area of the city where the vandals do their vandalism REALLY dont like them (even though that was where they used to have their most die-hard supporters).

Heheh.. and it wasn't illegal until a few years ago, to hire someone to pretend to be you and do your prison time for you. Amazing...

Zyber 03-01-2007 04:43 PM

Finally the day has come when police is raiding this nest of terror and destruction. Those violent anarchists of Ungdomshuset have very limited support from the Danes.

In fact the police has been acting very decent and professional with minimal damage on persons.

Yes that was quite illegal.

Problem was just that picture ID was not required when you went to serve your time so the police pretty much had to take the convicts word for it.

(and besides, it was also illegal to escape from prison unlike what Michael said : ) but in the same way as cannabis was illegal and we had a little vatican dealing it quite publicy :) )

The whole jail system was just too.. "polite".. basically.

Zyber summed up the whole action today nicely tho :) The actual clearing of the house was also handled extremely professionally and took a total of 10 minutes. They did it at 7 in the morning because the anarchists likes to sleep till noon. If the footage ever hits the tubes i reccomend watching it, was so nicely executed :)

Hinc 03-01-2007 05:33 PM

Just to clarify.

The demonstrators wasnt squatters, at least to begin with.

The house its all about has been owned by the local council of Copenhagen for centuries and made available as a house for the alternative youth to toy around in (used to have bars, a music venue, cafe etc)...

A couple of years ago, the local council sold the house - without the council being aware, it turned out the buyer was a rather extremist religious sect, who´d actually bought it to "bring salvation to the young" (allthough some would say they bought it for the PR value - noone had heard of them before, and this has made them well known throughout the country - and theyre still playing their cards in the media. As a religious group, Faderhuset appears to be anti homosexuality, anti islam/foreigners etc.

Anyway, the local council admitted their mistake, and in various ways and forms they have tried to buy the house back. There has been ongoing negotiations with the youngsters in the house, who claimed historic rights to it. However, Faderhuset has refused to sell to anyone (why would they, they get free TV time every night) and the youngsters have refused to buy another house, that was recommed to them by the local council (but not made freely available, which the youngsters demanded, to even consider it).

Well, so yes - the youngsters have occupied it for 1½ year since it was sold - presumably unlawfully (given they´d loose the claim for historic rights to it) - but it isnt entirely a black/white situation...and the only real winners are the sect, who by no means can be counted among the nicest or most tolerant of people.

I agree, these rebels are not the rebels of yesteryears. Those were peaceful rebels smoking pot and listening to smooth tunes..
But I will visit Denmark again, probably this summer, I have some very good friends there..not sure if i will spend much time in KBH though..most my friends no longer live in the city.

Zyber 03-01-2007 06:28 PM

Right now the vandals have stolen af car, and put it on fire using molotov cocktails as barricades. The fights take place just outside Christiania.
Those fucking pricks.

Oh no. There went another car. I hope those criminals will rotten in jail.

Splum 03-01-2007 06:58 PM

Haha so are these muslims or hippies rioting? Same thing really.

Hinc 03-02-2007 09:08 AM

Its apparently a mixture...mostly the leftwing youth.
