K my friends girl was working on a masters doc in WOrd... she was using a floppy disk....dont ask me why.... she lost the floppy.....

now in a search the doc shows up but points to A drive which is the floppy... does windows save anything perhaps in a tmp file or something....

basically anyway to recover the file?

i told him he is shit out of luck

well, if word crashed, it would have created the tmp file... but i dont think it makes one if the document is saved, even if its on a removable device.
It only makes it when unsaved documents are crashed

If she has rebooted then I think she is fucked.....

If not, then see above.

When you do a search, its probably showing up as a "recent document". You're screwed.

guess there is nothing else to do

word does create temp files, but they are removed when you close word.

It seems shes out of luck.

When you open Word, and go to the menu , isn't there a copy of it there under "recent documents" .
Which version of word is she using?
98, 2003, or 2007?
Word '03, and '07 will not let you close without asking if you want to "save document" or "save changes".
If she clicked "No".. she is likely fucked.

If she saved at least once , it is in there.
