If the entire world went vegetarian there would be wide spread starvation, unemployment, polution and many animals would become extinct.

WHY? :

There is currently not enough vegetables to feed the human race and people would starve until enough farms were produced. This explosion of farms would poison the environment from run off from pesticides. The result will be increased cancer and other illnesses among humans that will lead to massive death counts.

Small game animals like rabbits, gophers...etc would be killed/posioned to protect the crop from being eating by them. The effect will be starvation of lager game animals and reptiles that normally eat those small game.

Insecticide would wipe out entire insects populations and thus starving the wild life that normally feeds on them.

Lack of animal skin products such as leather would cripple the clothing/funiture/accessory industries causing mass unemployment from manufacturers to retail.

With all the farms taking up most of the available land, there would be little space for "freed" animals and they would starve or be killed to thin the population so that at least some would survive. These "freed" animals will simply be driven into extinction as there living space skrinks for new farms.

Drought would spread and marsh land would dry up as major water supplies are diverted for irrigation of massive farms. Lower water levels in rivers and lakes will further kill off life as fresh water life will migrate out of shallow areas that cannot support them; thus starving land game that feeds from the fresh water game.

Medical science will stall as animal testing and tissue would become unavailable leading to slow if not never found cures for human illnesses.

Clearing land of trees and replacing them with farms will remove much of the worlds oxygen producing plant life thus increasing the "green house" effect that is fuling global warming.

The end of commercial fishing will in time lead to "Pollution" of the sea by small game in such large numbers that large game can not comsume enough to keep the sea fresh. Small game fish will "STRIP" the vegetation from the sea thus leading to a depleted oxygen supply which will kill off or alter the make up of sea life.


During times of drought or "hard freeze" vital crops will be destoryed sending famine thought out the world. War will then flair as the battle for food becomes the law of the land. War will further destory farms and lives leaving a bare landscape of horrible human suffering.

I read a scientific paper in Oz where the greenies wanted cattle farming in Australia banned and more agriculture. The scientists for the cattle union released a paper with some of the points in interracialtoons without the emotion and doomsday stuff. Interesting reading all the same.

I might add that Australia's cattle stations are usually larger than Texas, UK, etc and the cattle just roam wild and the first they see a human is when they are rounded up by helicopters.

Wouldn't that report be just a bit biased since it was done by the cattle union? Now if it was a bipartisain group doing the study then i think the paper would be a lot easier to swallow. It would be like PETA (or insert any animal rights type of group) releasing a study saying the complete opposite from the "data" their scientists gathered. Don't you think the cattle union would be losing a large sum of money if the study didn't show that? So of course the outcome of the study would fall in their favor.

This isn't an argument - just some food for thought. :2 cents:
