the blacks dont trust obama because the whites like him

Polls suggest whites are more likely than blacks to say America is ready for a black president, which may be part of why much of the African-American community is cool to the presidential candidacy of Sen. Barack Obama.

"When white America has embraced a candidate -- as they have with Barack Obama -- there is a certain amount of distrust that goes with this among a number of African Americans," Wilson said
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/02/...ote/index.html

its going to come down to obama or clinton, prob obama, who will lose to whoever republicans bring up, probably a moderate, but thats the way it has to be

as far as the article goes, i think blacks should support him, its worth it to set a precedent, overcome a barrier

MikesTraffic 02-27-2007 08:04 PM

I live in the south, from what I have gathered, blacks are more racist then whites now....I hate racism, but for some reason I can' walk into a local walmart without someone calling me a honkey

Xplicit 02-27-2007 08:07 PM

Blacks are more racist than whites. :2 cents:

people should support who they think will best serve them....voting obama in just to "set a precedent" or "overcome a barrier" is retarded :2 cents:

chodadog 02-27-2007 08:20 PM

I remember seeing an interview recently when they asked him about how poorly he was polling in the black community. And he said he was proud that black people were sophisticated enough to not simply throw their support behind a candidate simply because he's black, and that he was going to need to win their support just like any other candidate would have to.

But you just know he was thinking, "Fuckin' niggas"

exactly, you made my point. people should not be impacted by "to what degree a different race supports this candidate" so yes your right, once people put their prejudices aside, which will be never, will a candidates election be based on the merit of the candidate.

65% of it is smoke and mirrors, chance and the like and its common practice, but i digress

maybe my simple mind just figured that if anything, prejudices taken into account, they would support a member of their own race, wouldn't it be a very proud day for african americans and racial equality the day a black man was elected president, arguably the most powerful person in the world, ceteris paribus?

I quoted the ignorant comment, if you can't figure it out from there, there isn't much I can do to help you.

webmasterchecks 02-27-2007 09:15 PM

baddog, i explained that here, what do you find disagreeable? the reason it was a news story, front page of cnn, is because of that anomaly, if it made perfect sense, it would not be one of those "weird stat/poll" stories whose reasoning needs to be explained

your not one of those people that throw out a vague "your ignorant" or "thats stupid" statement and just walks away without elaborating, are you?

When do "the blacks" all get together and decide on a cohesive opinion for all social and political issues? I'd like to at least throw in my vote.

To vote for anyone based on race, creed, gender or anything beyond qualifications; or suggesting that this is something to be proud of is extremely ignorant.

However, based on what I have observed from you over the past few days, no matter how much I discuss this with you, you just won't "get it" so I won't bother.

dude, i know, but thats how the world works. we have not had a bald president elected since eisenhower, kennedy won the 1960 debate because he was confident and good looking while nixon was unshaven and shifty-eyed, video killed the radio star, people have been debating clintons chances of getting elected based on her gender and obamas based on his race since they came on the presidential radar

i dont make the rules, im just stating them, if you want to win the presidency, you have to win on many different independent levels

notice my post said ceteris paribus, "everything else equal" this means that im stating this dependent on this being is the only influencing factor

it was a poll conducted by The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation, maybe a telephone sampling

Pornwolf 02-27-2007 10:19 PM

As far as I can tell Hillary is the better candidate but it's still early.

Personally I'd vote Giuliani if it was an option.

If Obama wins the nomination black turnout across the country will be huge.
States will be in play that republicans usually win by 20 points or more.

Polls today are worthless, it's 2 years until the next election.

Do they call early in the morning??? Because if so...I totally understand why my Negro vote hasn't been counted.

[political]Anyone of any race who decides before they know where each candidate stands on the issues is an IDIOT. I have a handful of hot button issues and until each candidate has declared and clarified where they are on those topics, I reserve opinion. I don't care what your skin color or heritage is. Frankly, there are several black politicians that I would rather set fire to myself than vote for. [/political]

You have to be a member of the Secret Black Society of Monolithic Thinking,( SBSMT) we meet every Monday to decide what all blacks should think about political, religous and social issues. We even have our own secret handshake.

This should come as no surprise. Whenever a black person does well in anything but the NBA or "da rap game" he is suspected of being a sellout and an Uncle Tom. "Keepin' it real" is very important to a lot of blacks.

Your statement is idiotic because 99.9999% of Black Americans do not have careers as rap artists or ball players. If Black people who didn't play ball or rap were considered sell outs by other Blacks then there must be alot of Black people who call their own selves sell outs. Your generalizing.....and "you know it".

You're "own people" would be whatever ethnic group you belong to. What I'm saying to you is that instead of trying to speak for millions of Black people you would be better off speaking for you and yours because from your commentary you do not have a clue to what the masses of Black people have on their mind in regards to who is a sellout and who isn't a sellout. I think you've been watching too many rap videos.

Are 99.9999% of blacks looked up to as successful? I'm talking about the famous and emulated. Go down to the corner and ask the homies who they'd rather be, Obama or 50 Cent.

LOL at criticizing blacks for not voting soley by race then calling them racist for doing that.

I personally don't have a fucking clue about where Obama stands on any issues except Iraq. I think this is true of a lot of people.

It's way too early for any poll to have any accurate results and polls like this are often skewed anyway.
