This makes the Islanders a contender. They have been playing well. If they can sort out there weaker goal tending they will be in good shape. They certainly have the right coach for a run at the playoffs.

NYI are looking good here for a nice run in the PO's. I'm very surprised about this trade. That's like the Leafs trading Matts. Crazy.

I just hope to god this isnt a temporary thing and see smyth back in edmonton next year

They have Frans Nielsen. Nuff said... they mean business.

Yea I was quite surprised, but they did get 2 good prospects and a first rounder. Who knows he may even sign with them in the summer
