The only sport that matters - NHL Deadline trades

Leafs picked up Yanic Perrault and a 5th round pick for Brendan Bell and a 2nd rounder..

Other notables on the move:

Martin Biron, Bill Guerin, Dainus Zubrus, Todd Bertuzzi..

That Bertuzzi trade that florida made has to go down as one of the worst in history.. they basically traded Luongo for what is now a couple draft picks..

Check out all the deal at www.tsn.ca

No arument there, can't wait till that fucker dies off. But still com'on. Hockey is the most exciting game played on the planet.

Sosa 02-27-2007 01:43 PM

I watch some playoff hockey but that is about it. It just doesn't get the coverage here to keep people excited about it all year long.

Marleys88 02-27-2007 01:44 PM

i have mad respect for hockey, i played club for 7 yrs, but what betman did, shit he desrves to die

Brad 02-27-2007 01:46 PM

what;s the deal with the Leafs picking up Yanic Perrault? why do they always go after players that have played with the Leafs before?

PR_Sebas 02-27-2007 01:47 PM

ryan smyth got traded to the islanders, thats insane... they didnt even give up much, im sure the leafs could have made a deal for him... GOD i hate bein a leafs fan

lol - I couldnt care less what people in nashville, new jersey, Phoenix, dallas, tampa, miami, carolina, st. louis, san jose, los angeles, etc.. think about hockey. I'd be happy if the NHL were 12 Canadian teams only, we have 6 now and you can easily put others in Regina, Winnipeg, South-west ontario (hamilton / london / windosor / waterloo.. pick one), Quebec city, St. John's and Halifax.

In this case I honestly think it is coincidence. JFJ has no past experience with Perrault. The leafs desperately need another centre and especially one who is a faceoff specialist. There werent many on the market - and Phoenix were sellers today.

Ryan O'Marra was captain of Canada's Jr team and the 15th overall pick in 2005, Robert Nilsson was a 15th overall pick in 2003 PLUS the islanders 1st round pick this yr. which will be in the 14 - 20 range.

The Islanders paid a MASSIVE price to basically rent-a-player for what might be a month if they miss the playoffs.

Kudos to JFJ for NOT doing something stupid.

No, then only actual hockey fans would watch, it wouldnt change anything. No one watches hockey in the US anyway, so whats the difference if there's no teams there?

Dude they'll make the Playoffs. Unless they blow a tire in the next few weeks but they're playing great already and have the goal tending and offence now to make a run in the Playoffs for sure.

no Kudos at all... i suppose if the leafs KNEW they couldnt sign smyth this summer then maybe alittle Kudos.. BUT I think they could of, and they should have given up what they needed to... imagine him on a line with Sundin, who has never had a good winger...

like i said if the leafs had a chance of signing Smyth in the offseason, then they should have traded for him... hes good for at least another 3 or 4 years..

Furious_Male 02-27-2007 02:04 PM

I am happy with the Dainus Zubrus trade. I think Buffalo needed what it had to do about adding some size for a run at the cup.

Mark Cuban pointed out last month that movie releases combine opening weekend numbers from Canada and the US. If you did the same with hockey and basketball ratings you'd find out hockey has more eyeballs then basketball.

You're right, I was wrong

I should have said the NHL gets more eyeballs then the NBA.

I love having Smyth come to the Islanders but they gave up 2 first round picks plus Robert Nillson for a rent a player.. pretty steep.

I used to watch hockey back a few years...NHL is pretty cool, but I've always hated that I can't see the puck too much, just a black dot moving fast on the ice...

Anyway, NHL is great and I'd still love to watch it, but I don't have the time any more... :Oh crap

NBA is cool too! Go Bulls! (And Tampa!) :thumbsup

If you watch enough hockey.. you eventually just 'feel' where the puck is and you dont actually see it. That's how the camera men know where to point the camera. They arent actually looking at the puck, they anticipate where the puck SHOULD be.
