New dude needs some explainin'
Hopefully I'm posting this in the correct place, I know I sound stupid with these basic questions, but I just need someone to grab the glue and put it together for me.
I am interested in making money in adult online industry, but don't fully understand how it all works. I have lurked around the site for a little while, but still don't quite get it. It appears that there are numerous ways to make money, but I am NOT a designer, photographer, videographer, etc. I am an advertising and marketing guy with a college degree (graduated with a B.A. in 1997), I am very familiar with the internet and online culture, and am tired of the white collar 8-5 daily grind....... maybe it was never for me. I know it's not easy to do this gig, and I am not wearing a pair of rose-colored glasses. I just need the basics. Of course I enjoy the content, but I also realize it is for making money, and I can separate the two (and can enjoy it on the side.......). It seems like a lot of the sites that "explain" how it works want my $$$ up front, how does that work? How do I make money by building traffic? How do sites make money by posting stuff for free on stuff like thehun and xnxx? Is it better to own original content or just resell? What are these tcpg (or whatever..?) lists that everyone is talking about? Why do some sites show up under tons of other links or just end up being redirected to the same basic place? For example Sapphiclove or SapphicJoy or whatever it is. Or maybe those are different sites run by different people? They're really cool BTW. like, wow. :thumbsup I own a few niche domain names (I've had them for a few years with no content), what should I do with them? Sell them? How else can I use them? As a portal to someones else's site and I would make money off the traffic I drive through my domain name with cookie tracking if the visitor joins? A couple are Milf related, the others are Burlesque dancing related (which kind of leans toward goth I guess... wouldn't you?). I know this is a lot to answer, any input is appreciated. Thanks everybody. |

Personally I dont think theres any money in building traffic. Its petty cash really. Unless youre passing it onto your own sites. As for how do people make money out of free posters like the hun.. You setup pages that use content from someone elses content (an affiliate), submit them everywhere or setup a TGP (thumbnail gallery post) then everytime someone goes to that page they have two options... view the free galleries and leave (no money) like what they see and signup to the payside associated with that free gallery (You get $ share) It takes you awhile to get your head around the whole concept. Easiest way I found to do it was to goto bunnyteens dot com and just click away. Notice how you get shunted off to other galleries? Its like a megolomaniac trading scheme :) You give them traffic, they give you traffic back etc.. Fuck me, I'm wasted and yet helpful. I think =) Or maybe that only makes sense to me. |
welcome.

Thanks for the welcome words and the links. If i understand correctly, you are saying most people that aren't designing the websites or producing content, are making money by being an affiliate, and finding ways to create traffic to the paysites they are associated with, Therefore creating revenue when say 1 out of every 1,000 visitors (just pulled that number out of the air) or so decides to join. Do I get it? How does a smart person decide who they want to affiliate with? who has the numbers on what niche is producing the most $$$ in reagrd to Milf, Teen, Latina, etc. Or should I choose what I like best because I will be more enthusiastic about it? A good blend of both? Being an affiliate, do you get passwords so you can review/judge the content/product?
Oh, here is another question: Is there any reason that an underage girl would EVER appear on one of the "teen" sites and affiliate or visitor would get in trouble? I know that these sites, and the industry in general is heavily regulated now and it's the lighting, make up, page design and props that create the illusion, but I have to ask how that works. Thanks guys |
welcome howdy hello

Welcome to GFY:)

Start with a niche you like... it's easier to market something you understand.

Webthreads,
Hey man, you and I are a lot alike. I'm not a web designer, and will never claim to be one (they are truly gifted IMO), but I am a sales/marketing geek, with the ability to photograph/shoot vids. I'm just researching the heck out of everything, from content providers, to webhosting sites, to straight up porn. I do have one advantage though...my older bro (used to be in the biz as a Systems Admin...also fellow porn geek). I lean on him a lot, especially here in the beginning. Hey, if you have any questions, I have a bit of info to share. Hit me up on ICQ at 423-548-797. Good luck, and welcome to GFY!:thumbsup |
Thanks guys, I appreciate everyone's advice. Does anyone have anymore input? I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on things, what should literally be my "first step"?

http://www.pornresource.com/industrystats/ i dont know if choosing a niche you personally enjoy is really the best idea... i got pretty numb to the content pretty quick. kinda ruined my favorite niche for me forever. some affiliate programs give you passwords, most give you some form of zipped content and creatives so you can build nice things to use while promoting them. do you live in the US? is your server in the US? if the answer is yes, and you meet the criteria laid out by the law: 18 U.S.C. 2257 Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006 the industry is largely self regulated ( and a lot of that regulation takes place in the main forum here ) but we live in the shadow of random inspections and record keeping legislation, so it never hurts to keep your ass covered. :2 cents: Quote:

Hi Iv owned websites for just over a year now one of them being an free amateur posting website which i only started around 3 months ago, I Let people post their own content to the site for free which keeps the new and fresh content coming into the gallery but i also have a donation page and affiliates, I have now started making money out of it but its taken around 3 months to get money back out of the site, so dont expect to get rich over night as this does not happen and you have to be prepard to drive good traffic to your new site and get good hardlinks which can be very time consuming and frustating, have a look at the cozyfrog forum it has tutorials for new adult webmasters and a lot of good advice written by people who have been in the adult business for a long time
Good luck with your new adventures in the adult world |
