Good question. I think the new generation is surfmasters

Some Guy 02-26-2007 09:51 PM

Six years for me already! Holy crap, time flies fast. I've actually been working online for seven years but it took me a year before I was making enough to live off of comfortably (and then some).

Brad Mitchell 02-26-2007 09:51 PM

Seven years this month! :)

My advice... Be honest, work hard and try to learn something from every person and every situation that you encounter.

Cheers,

Brad

MandyBlake 02-26-2007 10:17 PM

7 yrs for me.
be prepared to work hard :)

WiredGuy 02-26-2007 10:28 PM

Full time would be 4 years or so, but I was doing this part-time much longer. My best advice, think outside the box. Don't just go around submitting galleries or opening yet another tgp/mgp, be innovative and come up with something truly creative.

I just started yesterday, anyone know where I can get a good and cheap blog design really fast?

Also I need some reliable mission critical hosting for under $10 a month.

If you know of a processor that doesn't charge the $750 visa registration fee that would be great too.

I'll be back in a month to sell all of my sites for $100 and then get a job as an affiliate rep.

In the meantime, see sig!!

Forest 02-26-2007 11:05 PM

baddog 02-26-2007 11:06 PM

mattz 02-26-2007 11:08 PM

Tempest 02-26-2007 11:08 PM

5+ years... you have to actually do some hard work to make money.

CyberHustler 02-26-2007 11:15 PM

I haven't made enough to live off this as a full time job yet... I've been grinding a little over a year though, hopefully it pays off soon!

Makingcoin 02-26-2007 11:20 PM

6 Years strong!

kektex 02-26-2007 11:37 PM

2 years now
My advice: do some actual work instead of reading forums all day.I wasted sooo much time just reading rather than actually getting work done.

Let me just insert the obligatory : There´s money in porn?? (slight variation cos I felt like it)

LiveDose 02-26-2007 11:41 PM

I just started my tgp. Wish me luck!

Furious_Female 02-26-2007 11:44 PM

7 years in July. My advice? Stop giving stuff away. People have $$$ and aren't afraid to use it, if they HAVE to.

jscott 02-26-2007 11:48 PM

i'm at 6-7 years now :)

freshxxxmovie 02-26-2007 11:50 PM

gecko 02-27-2007 02:46 AM

should be close to ten years

Scott McD 02-27-2007 02:48 AM

Around 5 years now. Advice ? Take risks every so often. Some pay off, some don't...

jayeff 02-27-2007 03:05 AM

My best advice would be to stay off the boards and do not network. The consequence of being constantly exposed to other peoples' ideas and practises is too often that you end up working just like everyone else. Even if you do what you do well, you will find yourself competing head-on with others who do their job well and may have the advantage of experience and of already being established.

Instead of worrying about what your competitors are doing, focus on the people to whom you are trying to sell. Think about what is not out there, rather than about what is. The most successful porn sites fail to sell to the vast majority of their visitors. Reasonably you have more chance to find a way of selling to that vast number to whom existing sites do not appeal, than by fighting over the relatively small number who are already being served.

american pervert 02-27-2007 03:21 AM

been in the game since 1998 but im moving more towards shooting content, does that still count??

Violetta 02-27-2007 06:16 AM

3 years... Not fulltime though

BVF 02-27-2007 06:28 AM

going on 5 years fulltime and 7 years total...And I would agree with Jayeff... I never read one webmaster board until I had already launched my site. I remember back in 2002, pornresource was telling people to not waste their time starting another paysite.

Juicy D. Links 02-27-2007 06:29 AM

Since 2000 , early 1999

Farang 02-27-2007 06:30 AM

~2 years :)

Methodcash Rick 02-27-2007 07:20 AM

In the biz since 1991 with adult BBS' then "online" in 1995, so a total of 16 years

ADL Colin 02-27-2007 07:41 AM

Right at 10 years.

Advice?

This is a business. Run yours like one. Learn everything you can about BUSINESS in general.

Listen carefully to people who are more successful than you. Ask lots of questions of them. Most people love to share what they know - at least in general.

Really? I was earning $500-1k a day from day 3. Maybe you're just dumb?

jimthefiend 02-27-2007 07:47 AM

Full time '99 thru '02. Then part time for years, back to full time in early '05.

Advice?

Get off your fat ass and get some excersise for a couple hours a day at least. Work out, walk around the mall. SOMETHING.

Not only does your ass get fat in this job, but your brain does too. Walk away from the pc daily. You'll be fresher.

TeenCat 02-27-2007 07:49 AM

two months for me... do you think its too late? :)

BritneyCT 02-27-2007 07:52 AM
