Do you hate it when people call you "Sir"?

Evil Chris 08-06-2002 02:25 PM

You actually think that someone calls you sir just because they want something from you?

It's just called being polite.

kmanrox 08-06-2002 02:30 PM

"Sir" is really not a big deal.... it's a matter of being polite and respectful. Spend a few years in the military and I promise you will learn this.

revbuddylove 08-06-2002 02:40 PM

Whatever happened to Mac?
Hey Mac, which way to blah blah blah.....

That's way better then Sir.

StupidNewbie 08-06-2002 02:43 PM

Many people call me Sir until they realize I'm 12.

RATBOY 08-06-2002 02:44 PM

"Please don't call me sir, I work for a living."

gothweb 08-06-2002 04:43 PM

What always gets me is "Reverend"... Since I am a Rev. in the ULC. Nothing like getting a call from my bank, and having to figure out who they are talking to for a second. Ah well... It can be fun, too.

RW316 08-06-2002 04:46 PM

i dont mind being called sir... its just like people calling me mister...

i think its a good respectable saying

Krome 08-06-2002 07:03 PM

I really do not care just as long as people are being polite.

SleazyDream 08-06-2002 07:11 PM

I perfer it when someone drops to their knees and worships me. in leau of that handing me a big mac will do.

Evil Chris 08-06-2002 07:17 PM

you did mean "in lieu of" right?

"instead" would have been fine also.

jimmyf 08-06-2002 07:19 PM

I had a customer get pissed at me, from a big company... I went on a service call... repaired the stuff... the guy called me sir... I told him I'm not a sir I'm a Jimmy... The next day he called and ask me not to send that Tech. again.. I told him, ok I won't send out again.. I did not tell him it was me and I was the owner of the fucking company... Didn't want to piss him off right then as I had a large bid in on a bunch of new Scale's... I got the sale and did the installation's... Never saw him again...:1orglaugh

For years after I got out of the Army I called all men Sir..

Idiom:
in lieu of
In place of; instead of.

[Change of one thing for another] Substitution.
[Adverbs] instead; in place of, in lieu of, in the stead of, in the room of; faute de mieux.

Honeyslut 08-06-2002 07:36 PM

shouldn't the poll say SIR or Madam ?:1orglaugh

I love it when someone calls my girls my sisters.... hehehe

chodadog 08-06-2002 11:30 PM

I'm only 19, and i've been called plenty of times. Mainly by older people, which just seems odd. Seems that most people will be polite and courteous towards you until you give them a reason not to.

Pathfinder 08-07-2002 02:26 AM

I was called sir for a number of my military years. Now I am called a "senile waste of flesh ".
