Firefox Strange behaviour

http://gfy.webspacemania.com/firefox/

not sure if this is quite an exploit , more just strange behaviour..

Haven't tested it in older firefox but it shows up in the new firefox.

SmokeyTheBear 02-26-2007 04:38 PM

Doesn't work for me with 2.0.0.2.

Other than preloading javascript, causing a bookmark to pop open (which still needs a manual confirmation), and your 1.wxv embedding which doesn't work - I fail to see what you're trying for.

oh well.. guess just wasting your time.. it worked though

you in a bad mood or something.. ?

embedded files that you dont have plugins for dont work,, period regardless of your browser ( most people have wmp controlling ther wmp file extensions )

bookmarks need confirmation in firefox.

I was pointing out a strange behavious , you must not have seen it , dont lose any sleep over it..

No. I was just confused as to what else it was supposed to do, if I had missed it or not - not trying to seem all angry or anything.. just curious. :thumbsup

Bookmarks in FF do require confirmation, and yes, they open in the sidebar; I haven't found a decent workaround for this behavior, yet. I do have full WMP 11 w/ plugins, which works for FF - the embedding just wouldn't work for me, I even dropped it in by hand (when I did without the JS, it worked).

TheJimmy 02-26-2007 04:50 PM

I saw the pop, then crashed the browser...

heh ok point taken :thumbsup

what it does is forwards you to google and pops the bookmark after your already at google so it appears that google is asking for the confirmation..

the other stuff i just had in there from a popup script

aico 02-26-2007 04:53 PM

what am I looking for? I got the Bookmark pop up, but the plug-in was missing, and I got a install missing plug-in button. When I hit Cancel on the bookmark, it takes me to Google. (fuck adwords!!!)

Oh, I gotcha. For me, the popup hit before I got redirected for the plugin, then google.. so I knew it came from your site.

Ages ago, I swear at least ONE of the browsers would do a popup that said JAVASCRIPT PROMPT (Site): ...

Maybe I'm just smoking crack. Thanks for the explaination.

SmokeyTheBear 02-26-2007 04:57 PM

SmokeyTheBear 02-26-2007 04:59 PM

BigBen 02-26-2007 05:05 PM

ok i'm not crazy after all :) :thumbsup

it seems to be bug where its still running java from the previous page while on the new page.

SmokeyTheBear 02-26-2007 05:22 PM

i'll have to tool around with it a bit i just happened to notice it while messing with some popup code, but i bet it has some bigger holes like faking an install

CyberHustler 02-26-2007 05:30 PM

If anyone cares, my firefix add on javascript blocker blocked that whole link... blank page for me.

SmokeyTheBear 02-26-2007 06:08 PM

if you get the full effect now it will appear google has a popup for live.com and a message from me

emthree 02-26-2007 06:18 PM

wherever theres an exploit theres something usefull inside :)

it does appear it could be exploited, if you look at the demo now it will spawn an exe prompt that appears to come from google and the bookmark also points to my site but shows up on google.
