paysite owners - how many guys cancel within the first 12 hours?

icq is great... just in a chat and found out that nasty dollars don't pay if the guy cancels within 12 to 13 hours of signing up.

i suppose it is better than shaving signups, BUT... this means two things

1. the stats must be heavily delayed (as they never credit a signup and take it away later)

2. assuming the sites convert as well, you'd probably see more signups promoting someone like ARS or MaxCash instead

i never noticed this before - i guess i should read the terms and conditions more closely from now on.

any figures on how many guys cancel their membership within 12 to 13 hours?

could be anywhere from 30 to 40% by my estimation.

take your last check (if you have one) from them and multiply by 1.35
looks a lot more impressive, eh?

it happens.

hahmike 08-06-2002 03:06 AM

it's ok amp, you don't have to reply to every post.

they already took that part out of the GFY terms. :1orglaugh

40%? nah doubt that.. Most people signup, spank it,get tired and come back the next day to cancel or spank again

Wow. That's pretty slick. I wonder how long until all the other per signup programs copy that.

"A qualified signup is defined to be a signup that does not result in chargeback or a refund, and otherwise does not result in a reversal in the first 12 hours of membership. "

yep its in the terms

I would imagine that you get about 25% cancels in the first 12 hours and that is probably 60% of the people that cancel overall..figuring that they recurr at around 40%..

There used to be some programs that told surfers that they couldnt cancel in the first 24 hours cause their data wasnt in the database yet..haha

Also, youll find a lot of surfers that cancel minutes after they signed up.. cause they know they have a 3 day trial anyway..

Might as well use their partnership plan if they offer one. Looks like you only get paid on serious members who intend to stick around awhile, so why settle for a 1 time payment?
I think its pretty sleazy though of them to put up a time frame.

There is no partnership program - and maybe there is a reason for it...

I just looked over my stats for last week. I didn't dig too deep but it looked like 12% cancelled in the first day (not 12 hours...I just got the stats for the full day).

when we had a trial - we'd lose a lot of people in the first 3 days...

gothweb 08-06-2002 07:18 AM

I hardly get *anyone* cancelling in the first day. In fact, since I have a non-rebilling option, I get very few cancellations at all.

RW316 08-06-2002 07:19 AM

plenty of people do that

but you can't compare, because you don't have a trial - and a lot of options are non-rebilling, so people can't cancel.

nastydollars is completely different.

i'm very concerned about losing money here when i could be making a % more with maxcash or ars... conversion ratios ignored, of course.

some_idiot 08-06-2002 07:21 AM

We put our updates log to the outside of the site,
after that it went from about 20% to 1%. Even a
cable modem user will hang around if he thinks he's
going to get another update or 2 before a rebill. Then
he forgets until the 2nd or 3rd month to cancel.

Wizzo 08-06-2002 07:22 AM

I don't know about 30%-40%, but there's quite a few guys that sign-up for the trial, wack off, and cancel...:winkwink:

B40 08-06-2002 08:33 AM

A lot of people sign up and cancel right away so they don't forget to cancel when their membership is about to expire.

Maybe this explains why people think Nasty Dollars "shaves"

:1orglaugh "prett sure"? Just because you convert them at 1:3000 doesn't mean they shave

Quite a good number of people cancel before they ever go into the site. It's unfortunate but true, and the larger the program the more instances you have of it.

The chargebacks and refunds part looks interesting.

However, I don't think we will be copying them on either lol ;)
