I need some techie help with an external harddrive
I was moving my laptop for a cam show and my external harddrive got unplugged. i plugged it back in and did my cam show.
i just went to do some work with some files on the external harddrive and when i dbl clicked on the E: drive it said, this harddrive has not been formatted. would you like to format it now? This has never happened before. WTF?@?@?@? Am I screwed? How can I view all my files on there again? HELP!!!! Thank you very much!!! |
that is something I could not begin to tell you unless I was there
not sure why it would do that though, try plugging it into another computer and see what it says |

ok here's the update.
my hard drive crashed and died. i have set up a paypal account for sympathy donations. lol i call it the shitty ass external fund. i am in the process of downloading things onto my new external harddrive. wish me luck!!! |
did you try to take it out of the case and plugging it in inside your comp? the case may have gone bad but the HD may still be good.

funeral services for the drive will be announced lol
|
The bridge inside the external case might be messed up and make it seem like the drive is dead but did you try to connect the hdd internally? The hdd and your data might still be fine if you connect it to your pc as if it were an internal drive. That has worked for me before.

I had a drive die thursday of last week
are we both having some shared karma debt or something? mine had 22 out of 30 encoded and watermarked scenes on it for a new paysite |

ouch that sucks. mine had everything on it. that's the easiest way to say it. |
It is recoverable, my brother did mine through DOS, you just need comp geek who knows all this stuff. Usually what happens is that the internal drivers get corrupt but the information is still on there. It will not show in My Computer because the drivers and internal software is got corrupt, but you can go the DOS route and recover the files.
And yes you can try taking the drive out of the casing and try running it as if it was a internal drive. Most probably, it will work. |
