Mugged in amsterdam?
 

Me and my mate are going end of april.

Our freind just got back and got mugged by a guy with a knife in broad day light.

I heard it can happen alot in amsterdam anypne ever seen or had it done to them?

just go to an atm on the damsquare and wave your banknotes - told everyone here ages ago they need to put mirrors on the atms like they do in the states

just pay attention dont leave your wallet on a table and dont even think bout putting your cred card on the end of the table like the americans do - theyll grab your card and run

When I was there the only place I found a little shady was damm square near the red light district... This will be obvious because of the area.

Considering how many crackheads and morroccans there are in that city, I dont find it hard to believe...

However, if you are somewhat bright, male, and do not look like a tourist with a money belt, I would guess you'd be pretty unlucky to get robbed. Like with any other major city..

I heard its worse in Italy. a bunch of kids will surround you and one will take your shit.

just be safe. dont carry a lot of cash on you and put your wallet in your front pocket

I dunno, I've stumbled back to my hotel at 3 am at least several times over several years at a distance of a mile or so and I'm still fine. As someone earlier said, use common sense and general street smarts to not make yourself a target. It's the same in just about every large city you go to.

Amsterdam is great. Just like any big city, use common sense and stay away from the combat zones. Plus you have a buddy to watch your back. I found the locals there very friendly it was the tourists who were fat a-holes.

Magnus looks like a mob enforcer..lol


Amsterdam is cool..just be off the streets by 3am
