Anyone had a Root Canal Done.. Vicodin?
 

While at Xbiz in Hollywood.. I had a filling fall out ..
It has been hurting so bad..
so Monday I will be having a root canal... AHHHHH!!! :helpme

The Dentist gave me some pills called Vicodin..
I took one last night around 7pm.. and it wired me up like crazy until around 3am..

It does make the pain go away.. but I dont like the wired out feeling..

Any suggestions as to what else I could take besides this Vicodin.. something that will make it stop hurting and mellow me out so I can go to sleep instead??

My dentist gave me NOVO-PROFEN 600mg when my teeth were hurt but it was because i had a high velocity impact and there was inflammation. Not sure if that could help you out... I think you're better with the dentist's advice.

Sorry you're in pain - never had a root canal nor Vicodin. For some reason I thought Vicodin was something that would knock you out?

Weird but True, Half the Population do get Wired while on Opiates such as Vicodin. Maybe try taking IBrofen for the Swelling and ask for Tylonal 3 with Codeine instead of the Opiate Hydrocodone which is in Vicodin..

Actually Ibuprofen is the same thing I was talking about... generic name is MOTRIN.

I've had so much dental work done to my teeth.... my dentist and I become good friends. And I was always in pain so he kept in swimming in Vicodin. I got into a bad habit of taking a Vicodin before I left for the dentist, and one when I got there.

One time - going in for two root canals - I decided to double the dosage. I took two before I left the house, and two more once I got there. I had to wait a bit before I saw the dentist and when they finally called my name I stood up and.... that was the last thing I remembered.

I woke up a few mintues later with medics all around me - they had called 911 on me!

I can see how they could hook you.. I am almost out of pain and am working like a wild woman lol

I only took 1 last night and 1 tonight... but I could work for hours now that it has kicked in..
I feel like going dancing lol :1orglaugh

2 Vicodin put me to sleep for 12 hours in Vegas.

codine might work well for you, though a lot of people are allergic to it

I get them for bad headaches and the do give me a bit of a wired effect in the first hour. then the pain goes away and i feel normal . I found that when i have that wired feeling i think I'm getting shit done but I'm really just jumping from thing to thing and getting nothing done. I only take them when i really have to... but it is a good feeling ...lol

I would hate to take 2 at a time.. I would probably fly high and be soooo wired out for a couple of days lol

The best thing for tooth pain is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory non-narcotic analgesic called Toradol. It reduces swelling and kills the pain with no "high" feeling. Your dentist will think that you have lost your mind if you ask for it because most of the drug seekers want Vicodin.

Yeah, Toradol is awesome. Used to take it for back pain after a car accident so I could still function at work in the day.

I had my first root canal last year, wasn't nearly as bad as everyone I know made it out to be, didn't feel any different than getting a filling for me, doc gave me a combo of vicodin and 800mg ibuprofen.

vicodin (hydrocodone) is amazing

I am like you, I get hyper as shit on it....

in fact, it is the only thing that sets my mind into "focus" mode, I get so much work done and the ideas just flow all night long

I can't get it much anymore though, my back is not hurting anymore :(

I just popped a Vicodin ES for my back , no drugs effect me anymore

if my back isnt better in 10 min am popping 2 more pills

I just popped 2 an hour ago, and 2 more just now.

Codeine makes me puke. :(

Always be careful taking too much of this stuff. After taking Extra Strength Excedrin for 10+ years for migraines, I ended up with a bleeding ulcer.

I worked soooo hard last night and got so very much done lol

But.. I did not go to bed until almost 4 lol

You can also take Ibuprofen, as someone else told you / Motrin.

and I had Novoclindamycin, which is an alternate for Penicilin....which calms the infection and pain.

take the civodin, and then have something like coffee or soda. Should make you crash, and sleep.

if you don't like the feeling you can sell the pills for $5/pill to 90% of gfy, heh

Gurl! Can't believe you are only just now getting this taken care of! Sorry you are in so much pain sweetie. I pass the f*&$ out on vicodin. That thing I took 1/2 of at xbiz did the opposite, maybe it will work for you. It was called a Lortab. Could have been a combination of things that got my party started though. :winkwink: Once again, I have to thank Mike Gall for being my escort/babysitter while I tripped my face off. I was a handful!

Root canals are not that painful. You are numbed up good during the procedure and then once it is done there is no nerve left to cause you pain. If it is hurting you now, you will feel 100 X's better once the root canal is done.

I've had two root canals. They gave me Vicoprophin. I can't have acitaminiphin (i.e. Vicadin). It dulled the pain at best.
