What personal info can affiliate reps access?
Another discussion popped up this question.
With so many affiliate reps moving from company to company, and often, and then disappearing, what precautions are program owners taking so that these affiliate reps can't "collect" lists of affiliates personal information and SSN's? Do affiliate reps have full access to names, addresses, SSN's, etc? With so many remote workers and non-existent faces, I would hope programs are selective on what information affiliate reps can access based on various factors. Any input? |
You dont need to worry about that with FreakBucks, since I dont have any reps lol.

Don't worry. I'm trustworthy. :P

I can't speak for anyone else but when I was repping some of the bigger companies, I never even thought to look to be honest. All I was worried about was contact info and stats...
I want to say I remember NATS having a pretty neat afiliate management setup, which only gave specific information, but it's been a while and, like I said, I wasn't interested in looking... It's a good point to raise though. |
As far as CCBill affiliate programs go, only have access to name, email & website url, sometimes an address but webmasters have option of not allowing this to be shared with program

Good question.
I have another... why do so many program owners ask affiliates to enter their SSN/EIN on insecure pages? Can't you get a chained SSL certificate for the program URL for $10 or so? |
