Ear Wax Candles....anyone Ever Try...
Hey,
has anyone ever tried those candles that claim to clean out your ears? went to a spa today to get a gift card for my girlfriends best friends birthday and saw this....does it actually work? |
this is the first I've heard of them. lol
|
I thought you are supposed to remove wax from your ears ... not add it.
|
Yuck I have never tried it. I hope I don't. And I always look at my partners ears b4 i kiss em.
|
I always have a shitload of wax in my ears (from playing drums so much??), and have always wanted to try that. But I looked online and saw it's pretty much fake and impossible. Google dat shit and see what I mean.
I also know my old Italian relatives swear by them working, but they're all bonkers anyways.... SB |
i have honestly never put candles in my ears
|
Never heard of it before.
People will buy into any shit though... |
I do it once a month, religiously
it helps more than any doctor or drops ever did |
Yup, they work wonders... don't knock it. It seems weird, but it really truly works.

what are the benefits? |
I thought you meant candles made out of ear-wax. :Oh crap
|
it really works the candles create a vacuum and suck the ear wax out of your ear and into the tip of the candle. you'd be suprised if you've never had your ears cleaned by a doctor, how much wax builds up in your ears, when your done using the candles crack the bottom open and you'll see the yellow/orange hardened blob of ear wax.
they work really well, you'll notice an improvement in your hearing as soon as your done. they sell them here at a homeopathic store for $1.99 each |
it's bullshit - and i know cause i worked for a company that sold them
this article says it all: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ear_candling :2 cents: |

I have used them multiple times, it really seems to work, oh well if it was a placeblo type thing and faked me out, I thought it worked!
You can see the ear wax in the tip when you are finished, fun for the whole family! |

I have such bad ear wax, that I will be talking to someone and all the sudden this chunk the size of a pinky nail will fall out of my ear |
i am finding so many conflicting reports/stories when i google this....i may give it a shot to try for myself....
|
I stick one up my ass when constipated, you should see the shit in the tip when finished :thumbsup

a very popular company joke when we were talking about them. we were also discussing what would happen if you stick them into a girls vagina - but none of my female colleagues volounteered :Oh crap READ THE WIKIPEDIA ARTICLE - THIS STUFF IS BULLSHIT!! even the hopi indians deny that they have anything to do with them |
Some dude was suing a spa on Peoples Court yesterday about that. So he wasn't too happy.

Sound painful..
|
Don't Candle!!! It works, but it can be dangerous and it isn't nearly effective as this:
All you have to do is put ear wax softener or even just cooking oil in your ears. Let it sit. And go to the nurse. They flush it out with warm water. It feels a bit weird but it doesn't hurt or anything. A grape sized chunk came out of my ear and I could hear WAY better. I bought myself an ear syringe and I do it myself now. Just make sure you don't have an ear infection, I heard you can damage your shit if you clean them while infected. |
A lil bit of hydrogen peroxide in the ears helps clean em out too. Just leave it in till it stops bubbling and popping, then q-tip to your hearts content.

wax softener just clogs me up more, olive oil does absolutely nothing for me |

Tried it a few years ago...did nothing for me, but then I know people who swear by them. The one good things is they're cheap so you've got nothing to lose but a few bucks.
|
A moth flew into in my ear (yep, a tiny one but imagine the flapping wings) the night before my grandma's funeral. I put oil in to kill it, the next day my ear was swollen almost shut, went to the doctor after the funeral. Have you ever seen what they use to clean out your ears? It was like this giant metal syringe thing that looked like a cake decorator on steroids. I can't even explain how painful the washing out was but the Doctor pointed out all the built up wax that also came out. And my hearing was a lot better for a while.
|
from what I remember reading(and that wiki article aforementioned prob mentions this too) no way burning a candle could A)create THAT MUCH suction to suck wax out of your ear, and, B)safely warm you inner ear enough to soften the wax to enable it's removal.
And the crud you see at the end of a burn is just melted candle. But hey, if it feels good, do it. But it prob isn't doing what you thought it was. I used to do drunked peroxide in the ear at college though. Now that was fun! Bubbly, oozy CRUD! YUM! SB |

the amount of yeast and wax that comes out of the tube is incredible I don't think neon green wax is part of the tan candle wax the tube is dipped in |

I forgot to do it for 4-5 months a while back, I got an ear infection that sealed my left ear shut, the wax was literally draining out of my ear like water every 5-10 minutes after the infection went away I took the time to candle, I could hear 10x better and it filled up 1.5 inches of the candle tip with wax I usually have ear infections every 3-4 months if I don't take care of my ears, haven't had a serious one in almost 2 years because of candling btw, I also have perforated ear drums in both ears |
I had my ears flushed a couple of years ago and it was not painful whatsoever. Just warm water, however it did sound pretty damn weird!
Man the amount of wax that came out of my ears was insane! DH |
I think there are more sane ways to clean your ear canals other than setting a fire in them. Q-tips for me, thanks.:1orglaugh :1orglaugh

God damn people really fall for all kinds of shit. Colloidal silver, ear wax candles, chocolate turds... guh
|
alright, i spoke to my brothers friend who use to do this, and said that 1 night he put the candle in a water bottle and let it burn and sure enough there was WAX inside the candle when he unrolled it...it was inside a water bottle....
has anyone else done this test??? if you do not have an ear infection and go to the doctor, they will clean out your ears? and it feels that much better????? |
