Stolen money = users who use crappy passwords and who are dumb enough to let hackers steal it imho

As if epass is the only one with these problems, go ahead and checkout paypal etc

BusterBunny 02-19-2007 06:02 PM

Thats what I though until today. My designer had money stolen and his password was 8 bit... it would be nearly impossible to guess that on the first try.

Nick 02-19-2007 06:05 PM

I've never had a prob with epass.. I have seen the recent posts by people who claim to have had their accounts hacked and then they changed their user/pass and it was hacked again.. Either those people are using shitty passwords or they are full of shit. :2 cents:

marko13 02-19-2007 06:07 PM

they don't give a shit about the stolen money... i have that impression for them...

travelingmike 02-19-2007 06:08 PM

It is not just one account,

it was a total hack of most of the records / accounts. we are not talking about 5 or 10 accounts, there were 100's of them

madawgz 02-19-2007 06:08 PM

accounts get hacked all the time on all services, paypal, hotmail etc...

nothing you can do to stop it

nothing is really secure...

Yeah ... and someone inside taking advantage of this

Nookster 02-20-2007 12:26 AM

Hasn't happened to me. Might want to use a more secure password. :2 cents:

V_RocKs 02-20-2007 02:50 AM

Every single time someone brought it to the board and Chris came in with the users permission and opened the investigation for all to see, the users account was either cracked do to a shitty password or using the same password at a forum run by russians or some stupid shit like that.... or... they used their Virtual Visa to pay a Russian scamming hosting provider and that person in turn gave the number to a friend who used their payment gateway to authorize payments into their accounts.

The only reason you all don't know this is because you have no long term memory do to drug and alcohol use. Think back... Every time... Each and every one... Someone came to the board and Chris showed them exactly how it happened and everytime it fell under those two categories...

Sloppy passwords...

Using the Virtual Visa at a less than desirable place.

Also... You might use it at a mom and pop shop and then their server is hacked via their customer support ticket system or some other widely known exploit and walla.. Those dirty Russians have your info...

Ross 02-20-2007 02:58 AM

I agree with most other people, its just idiots using silly passwords.

Wizzo 02-20-2007 11:10 AM

You have earned the "idiot of the week award", you really have no idea how much money Epass is making do you?

I agree.
We pay hundreds of webmaster with Epass and never heard a problem.

Plus I dont believe most of the people complaining for many reasons.

pornguy 02-20-2007 11:26 AM

I try not to keep much in there. and that is one of the reasons.

fris 02-20-2007 11:38 AM

stop crying

GTS Mark 02-20-2007 11:51 AM

Jesus, I sure as shit know who I won't be buying any bandwidth from. Joel you should really think before you post something like this, it really affect's your company's reputation when you make unfounded criminal allegations.

Vick! 02-20-2007 11:52 AM

Though I have had some minor problems with epass but i personally dont think they steal money.

A company of this size don't really need to steal a couple of hundred dollars, IMO.

fr0gman, you are discussing only one way of hacking out of 101 -- Brute forcing can be the first method to get into someone's account but its not the ultimate or last method. May be your designer's system is infected with spyware. Now a days programmers are smart enough and they can install crap while browsing and you don't even know.
Or he may be the victim of scam.

In any case, size of the password does not matter. Just try to keep your PC clean and more likely your accounts will not get hacked.

And yes, the thread starter, Instead of starting this poll you could start a poll in which everyone agrees the suggestion that epassporte need enhanced IP and browser setting based protection (like egold, as I mentioned in other thread) so that we can present the thread to epass guys and they might consider working on it.

Actually, everything is secure -- just some idiots can't protect their accounts. They are always craying over the boards about epass, paypal accounts hacked, domains and money stolen out of their ass.

Can you give details as to what stolen money you are refering to. I've seen some post of people losing amounts like $500. If this question is in referenance to an amount like that then I think this question is ridiculous. For a company to put their reputation on the line for a dollar amount so small is dumb, for an employee to put their job on the line for that much is dumb, further more for a company to give the ability for an employee to be able to steal any dollar amount is dumb.

If you are refering to millions of dollars or even hundreds of thousands than maybe your question might have some validity otherwise I discount this thread as a an attempt to board whore at the cost of the reputation of a company.

However I will go further to say that I do see frequent threads about people losing money from their epass account, I do think that this is something that epass as a company should look into and they should work towards providing more secure services. Security with epass accounts is a concern of many people here and the company should work towards assuring its users and the community that they should not need to worry about their money when using their services

How many account had their money stolen?

Klen 02-20-2007 02:45 PM

DateDoc 02-20-2007 02:52 PM

That's funny coming from someone who's ethics may be questionable given your past responses about selling traffic to companies similar to Zango etc.

teomaxxx 02-21-2007 02:18 AM

from the recent epassporte thread:

"This is bullshit, my account was hacked into back in mid 2006 the guy got $500. Then I changed my username and password opened a new account, with a username that I never use for anything, and a password that is random numbers and letters. I told them when I opened the new account that I specifically wanted all p2p transfers blocked. They set me up with a limited account and that was one of the limitations.

I am convinced this is an inside job, I get payments at all different times of the month, so what, somebody logs in every day, and just happens to log in right when I get paid? No f'ing way. Somebody on the inside would have had to unblock my p2p transfer limitation, and know when I got a big transfer loaded to my account, as I always pull my money out as soon as it gets there. This scumbag new about the funds before I did, and I initiated the payments to my account they day before"

NOW TRY TO SPEAK ABOUT SECURE EPASSPORTE ONCE AGAIN, IDIOTS :1orglaugh

jeffrey 02-21-2007 02:22 AM

don't accusations like this without any proof get a banning?

maybe, but he has never response to threads where people describe, they have locked their P2P transactions and they were robbed then by P2P transcactions...so its definately some insider job or security issues.
read this:

remember most people who was robbed, it happened by P2P.

Unfound? I posted my voice. I posted what I think. All of it was based upon the way I have seen epassporte handle things here on the board. So why does this make me such a bad guy? Everyday people speak there minds say things, and judge people and business based upon there actions. Once again I do not think I am doing anything wrong.
