AFF traffic leak?
 

When a surfer enters an AFF webcam hosted gallery through a link at our TGP site and clicks to see a movie, a big alt.com popup appears and covers the page with our code in the URL. Not our ref code in the new page. Please test if you see the same.

The popup redirect the surfer from us to another affiliate. ( AFF themselves? )

There is an option somewhere that you change to whatever popup you want and you change the pID to your own.

Found it - go to 'Setup and promo" - its the option at the bottom of that list.

I doubt it. The option is set to "No Popunder"

You must click to see a movie to trig the popup.

I just tried it from my account - it comes up with a popunder with my ALT.com account I have set in the options.

If you have 'no popunder' set then change it to a popunder with your ID and ask AFF to look into it.

The video gals are obviously are not reading the 'no-popunder' setting.

Still a bit sneaky / fishy / not so good to keep a pop-up going by default if the person doesn't have an affiliate code for the other site.

OK. AFF redirects my traffic to themselves in a hidden way. I do not want any popups, that is the reason for disabling the popup option. You say that I have to make a popup of my own to get rid of theirs?
No way this can be a mistake from AFF. It need programming to make it happen. And where is the other affiliate code coming from? If it is a mistake ( blocking popup option not works ) it should be our code of course!

I have asked my my rep at AFF about Zango, and he said it should be solved in a few days.... That was a month ago.
I do not think discussing this with AFF is an option, really.

Well, it can be a little difficult and take some time to drop a company you have used for several years. You have spent a lot of time and money to build the domains etc. to generate traffic and money. And change that will surely take time, money and efforts.

I agree, but it takes time to turn Titanic around! We have been with them and trusted them almost from the very start and sent them 25.000+ members. Now we have to check everything for traffic leaks. One can expect better respect from AFF than this and Zango. Is it more behind the curtains?? How about the sign up ratio? Is it correct in the stats? Maybe there are a lot more traffic than counted for and the ratio is in fact low? Many questions pop up for sure.

There are many smaller progs that have massive traffic leaks as a policy that get no mention.

You can fix this yourselves in 20 seconds as I have said - why not do that and then talk to AFF about it.

I think the problem is they give people like you more credit than thay are due.

AFF and the programs that you can promote with them have a large and complicated affiliate program.

We're talking about a program that tries to legitimize stealing their affiliates signups through spyware by saying that since others do it, they must also do it. A program that publicly acknowledged that their use of spyware steals from their affiliates and has yet to do anything about it.

For some reason, "cock up", "mistake", "error", etc are not the first words that come to mind when I read threads like this.

The only cock up here is affiliates still pushing AFF. The only fix is to drop the thieves.

The default in any program should be "no traffic leaks". AFF has apparently set a system up so that unless you do specific steps, you will have a traffic leak by default, and a good one too.

Congrats to AFF for finding yet another way to twist the system into their favor.

You are getting the pop that we use for our typin traffic. There is probably an error in your link somewhere and it is crediting as typin traffic. Please contact me so I can look at your link and see what is causing this. By default all affiliate links are console free.

I can guarantee you that if you actually took the time to give some of the other sponsors in the same niche as AFF a legit try, you would end up with a better $/unique. I've been amazed the last six months talking to former AFF diehards who finally switched out their links after the Zango fallout. Without a doubt, everyone of them said they were now making more with new sponsors and couldn't believe they didn't do this earlier as they had been so sure that AFF was making them the most.

If zango was just a "usefull" marketting tool they could simply make it so zango doesnt overwrite your cookie thus gaining zango signups while not screwing their affiliates, the mere fact they intentionally overwrite the cookie says alot i think. I really really dont understannd why lars is continuing with this method it makes no sense.. A great company aff decides to team up with a company just hit by the ftc for millions in fines for installing spyware. Makes no sense whatsoever aff was doing great.

If the surfer succeed in taking away the popup and watch the movie, there is a big txt link just below the window

Dumb statement of the year.

Earnings per unique are meaningless. Put up an appealing blind link and your earnings per unique will fall. Filter your traffic more carefully and they will rise. If you want to be near as analytical as you are claiming, work on earnings per impression.

AFF offer a destination for your traffic. That's all. They have promo pages which convert in the same range as at least a dozen other sponsors and that is the best you can say. You, not they, are otherwise responsible for the volume of traffic you send them and how well it converts.

How anyone who has been in the business a while can see it any other way, is beyond me. There are no magic sites, let alone magic sponsors. You take something which is basically saleable, you learn how to sell it and you give it whatever exposure you want. There are bandwagons from time to time which briefly make that process easier. New sites often earn their keep for a few weeks. But in the long run your income depends entirely on your own activities.

Work with whoever you like, but if you are going to defend your choice, at least make sense.

People also need to learn to spread their traffic around and diversify so they do not get caught in a similar situation again. There are plenty of sites to promote that do convert very well. Pick a few and spread the love and you will see better results.
