I use to turn mine of every night, but of late have just been leaving it on 24/7

I turn mine off over night...

i turn it off over night also sometimes i leave it on but only if i pass out

simple answer: if i don't need it for a longer period (like during nights)


most of the time im working on my desktop computer but atm my tft is broke and in the repairshop and the crt is killing my eyes

so the laptop is my choice atm

On an added note my laptop hibernates after like 20 mins. After like 40 mins it shuts its self down

My laptop have been shut down probably 10-15 times overnight in the last 2-3 years...custom made laptops are the best....no those shitty ass dells, compaqs, hps....

Mine is on 24/7 but its killed my battery

gets turned off every night 90% of the time

laptop components aren't made to run constantly..make sure you back your stuff up cuz it's gonna fail eventually.

My thinkpad has a bunch of options on how the battery is charged to extend the life when it is plugged in 99% of the time. Right now, i have it set to not charge until it gets below 90% which results in about 1 charging/month with my usage patern.

I wish my dell had the same thing

I never shot mine off. Unless im taking it some place.

It's the other way around with me... how often do I turn it on? Maybe once a month...

I don't understand how that would effect your battery

I never switch it off, same with desktop...

I use to leave mine on all the time too and my battery only last 30 mins. now :(

I think it's either the heat, or constant topup charge, or perhaps both. I have seen several people recommend that the battery should be removed if the laptop is plugged into mains power.
