I have an HP laptop a Pavilion dv 1000 I bought for $1,100
After 6 months the hard drive took a shit on me. And Just recently I had to send it in because my back light was fucked. ALWAYS buy a warranty. It's worth it. But other than that I like HP. I got my laptop back and they fixed my back light and a bunch of other little things from normal wear and tear like USB ports, keyboard etc.
