Marijuana Kills Cancer!

The largest study of its kind has unexpectedly concluded that smoking marijuana, even regularly and heavily, does not lead to lung cancer. The new findings ?were against our expectations,? said Dr. Donald Tashkin, a UCLA pulmonologist who has studied marijuana for 30 years.

?We hypothesized that there would be a positive association between marijuana use and lung cancer and that the association would be more positive with heavier use,? he said. ?What we found instead was no association at all, and even a suggestion of some protective effect.?

Federal health and drug enforcement officials have widely used Tashkin?s previous work on marijuana to make the case that the drug is dangerous. Tashkin said that while he still believes marijuana is potentially harmful, its cancer-causing effects appear to be of less concern than previously thought.

Earlier work established that marijuana does contain cancer-causing chemicals as potentially harmful as those in tobacco, he said. However, marijuana also contains the chemical THC, which he said may kill aging cells and keep them from becoming cancerous.

If tobacco companies took out all the additivies in cigs then they might prevent cancer too. There is so much shit in a cig other than tobacco that no one really know what is causing tha cancer.

Yea I hear ya my moms sister died of cancer a few years back. It was too late for her at that time. Out of all the drugs she got her Dr told her to smoke pot wrote a script for it. But I just got her some high grade. Never the less she said it was better than all the other drugs that she ever took for cancer.

I just wish more people would realize there is far ore crazy shit then pot.

I never had a doubt. Alcohol and ciggarettes are far more lethal to ones health and well being than weed ever will be. The only thing that seems to make weed dangerous is that you can get arrested for it.

until the governments figure out a way to control the sale/distribution and tax the marijuana it will never become legal they make more money "fighting the war on drugs"

I am a Medical Marijuana user, and choose not to "smoke" cannabis, I vaporize it. But just because you "find something hard to believe' doesnt make it true.

sure thing, marijuana itself doesn't increase the risk of lung cancer - just like tea or coffee don't...

however, SMOKING whatever you like - tobacco, marijuana, maple leafs, sawdust DOES increase the risk, as tar and other hydrocarbons and oxygen radicals cause the breeding of carcinomas...

don't get me wrong, I do consume mj myself and I'm a big advocate of the plant, but I don't want people to think that smoking (marijuana, tobacco, whatever) is harmless... it might be a bit less harmful as it doesn't include other carzinogens which are included in cigarettes though....
