How long after eating a burger that's too rare...
... will it take before getting sick.. if you were to get sick from it. I only took two bites and about 3 hrs later get way sick. I'm ok now but still feel a bit "iffy"
:Oh crap |
ground meat sucks...you never know what is in there

from my knowledge, unless you are part cave man, you shouldnt eat raw cooked burgers. because unlike a steak where bacteria cant penatrate the meat as easy, you already processed the beef down to which almost all of it is exposed to air and bacteria hops right on board. then you compress it back, taking any non good things that were once on the outside of the steak and putting them in the center. blah! I had a friend that was a cook and said to never order a burger that is not "done" referring to raw on the inside. especially frozen ones, you should always have them cooked fully. im not a doctor, but thats just my :2 cents: on burgers |
I don't think frozen... but after I got a new burger (then my onion rings which I looked forward too all day long were not so yummy anymore due to sitting there) I overheard the waitress say "extra rare bacon burger" and figured that's what it was. Some guy ordered it and I got blessed with it.

Drink lots of water - you will probably throw it back up but that is the idea as your body is evacuating the toxins it does not like. Do not eat dairy products until you are better.
If you have some of the burger left or the meat it was made of or the package hang onto it as it can be tested to see what exactly it is that you have. If you are still sick tomorrow go to the doctor to make sure it is not E coli or something serious. |
Your son has a boyfriend?
|
E coli??????? Are you totally serious? Time to start googling. I don't have any of that burger left.
datatank, lol no my son and MY boyfriend... But we all ate different stuff so we'll see. We might all be getting the flu. I'd rather have the flu than Ecoli! omg |
I order burgers and steaks rare all the time and have never been sick from any food exept for mexican.

If you're seriously talking E. Coli it's 2 to 5 days, and there will be no doubt in your mind that something is wrong.
I agree with the above. If you're only feeling 'iffy' it's time to start Googling. If it's worse than that, go to the emergency room. |
if ne gets sick in 3 hours they are usually dead within about 12 hours
|
Well yeah I did the whole vomit thing about an hour ago and I'm "ok" now. I'm not feeling too horrible but definitely "not right". My stomach feels more pain than nausea too.. we'll see. I'm gonna go climb in bed and watch a sex in the city rerun and crash. Hopefully it'll be gone by tomorrow.

People manage to eat steak tartar ok. I like my burgers a bit on the still mooing side. As long as the meat didn't sit out for a while, it *should* be ok. Pork on the other hand...

Can you describe your bowel movements to me in detail?
Can you take a picture of the shotgun pattern your blowout made on the back wall of the toilet? |

Don't worry it won't kill you...
... but if it does, can I have your screenname? |
I just went veggie because of things like this. I lost a bunch of weight and have insane energy. This might sound odd, but I can only compare it to like being on cocaine. I feel thin and healthy, energized. But its not drugs! Its amazing what fruit can do for you. And no more flesh rotting in my body.
Hope you feel better. |
if you got it from a fastfood place you should of saved it and sued. easy money.

Unless an establishment grinds their own meat and very damn often always get them well done. If cooking at home and your using pre ground meat again always cook well done. However if you grind up your own meat or have your trusted butcher grind some up for you and you bring that home immediately and cook it, you are free to go from medium rare to rare. It is all about surface area and bacteria usually from cross contamination.
Steak tar tare is same thing. Usually it is cut up and chopped to order so it is safer than the raw egg they put on it. Then again you stand a good chance from the same contamination if you order a fresh made caesar salad or anything else with raw egg or meat in it. |

Two weeks ago she went to the doctor and was told she had a mild form of E Coli... |
Sounds like just a bout of food poisoning due to the under-cooked mince. Should be out of your system in 24-48 and a bit hours. If not go see a doctor, keep your fluids up and ya stay away from dairy.
Minced meat has way too many surface areas that when cooked in a patty style if not done propperly you get sick. Most meat pattys you get from fast food places are pre-cooked/blast chilled(frozen) then re-cooked so your fine. Steaks only have outside tissue areas that need to be sealed, as steak muscle is pure, hence why you can eat blue/rare cooked meat and not get sick. :) -N |
