Looking for automotive OEM part cross references

I have been looking all over the place for OEM part number references for replacement and aftermarket parts. Basically I need to be able to find out what a part is based on it's OEM part number from the manufacture, Example Nissan parts starting with 17402. Anyone know where I can find a database or program to do this? Willing to pay.

In most cases, this sort of cross reference is only available from the aftermarket part manufacturer themselves. Or, perhaps a distributor.

For example, Drag Specialties (which distributes parts for Harleys) has a cross reference in the back of its catalogs.

Well I am mainly looking for an OEM part reference like what Nissan OEM part number 17402-XXXXX is for and what vehicles it fits. This is the Nissan part. I know the dealerships have it but am looking for this for all vehicles.

Most part numbers are organized by type of part.

There was a time when I could tell you a Harley Davidson part based solely on its number. HD parts are xxxxx-xx The first two numbers related to where it is, the last two is related to what year they started making it.

I just Googled and found this:

This suggests theres some similar system to their parts. Go to the dealership and see what they say.
