Sponsor shaving referrals?

Ok, I have a friend of mine that I referred to this sponsor maybe a month ago.

Today I was talking to him and I asked how he was doing with the sponsor. He said that he only recently really started promoting the sponsor and he had 3 sales so far.

I went to check my stats and it shows that I only had 2 sales under his referral. I asked him to check again, and he confirmed he had 3 sales.

I know it doesn't seem like much (even though that's a 33% "shave"), but would you trust this sponsor with your traffic?? I'm thinking about dropping him.

What would you guys do?

Deej 02-14-2007 12:37 PM

useless without names

UKJack 02-14-2007 12:39 PM

Name the sponsor and no I would not promote them anymore also get some screenshots as proof. So no one can say you are lying take screens before posting the sponsors name

Screaming 02-14-2007 12:40 PM

Dirty Dane 02-14-2007 12:41 PM

No it's not. This sponsor pays PPS only and my friend's been promoting them for 3 weeks tops.

tranza 02-14-2007 01:22 PM

Nobody else cares?

polish_aristocrat 02-14-2007 01:23 PM

just name the sponsor

Wizzo 02-14-2007 01:32 PM

I'm willing to bet there's a more logical answer than shaving... :pimp

like everyone else said, post some screen shots and the name of the sponsor

Minte 02-14-2007 01:52 PM

I would talk to the sponsor first then decide after hearing their response whether or not to out them on GFY.

always best to go straight to the source first

word. Dating Gold shaved some credit off my account from a webmaster referal. Sucks, but that's life! Just gotta start sorting out which sponsors you send traffic to and which you leave behind.

Sucks, too, because I enjoyed DG and talking to Brandon. He was good people ;O But it's the principal of the matter.

mailman 02-14-2007 01:58 PM

Intresting concept.. shaving for what 2-3$ now.. lol idiots.

that is if it is the case.

salesman 02-14-2007 01:59 PM

I had similar experiences with a sponsor, but I think they did't count trials or something like that. It was a very known sponsor. I was happy making some nice bucks, why bother ?

it's not the one in my sig - they're OK

Eh, long story. They aren't totally wrong about it, so I'm not trying to bash them or anything. But it was fucked up on their part and it's just something that should have been corrected a long time ago.

Nope no one will give a shit if your not going to post the sponsors name, and if you dont post it you mustn't care to much about it yourself:2 cents:

Please icq/im me and i'll get whatever happened worked out. I haven't heard anything about this.

As a new sponsor these threads terrify me. Seems like the sponsor should be contacted immediately and given a chance to sort it out. Could be a third party software glich or something that is not directly the sponsor's fault, but something that they can take action on. Sure hope that my partners will ALWAYS contact me first before starting this kind of thread. Yikes!

DutchTeenCash 02-14-2007 03:12 PM

cant be a ccbill sponsor since thats not even possible in the ccbill admin

rabbit 02-14-2007 03:47 PM

so many sponsors say they give referrals, but most dont even configure NATS to do so

Kimo 02-14-2007 04:00 PM

yeah a lot of NATS sponsors have this problem

It is possible to have webmaster referrals and money disappear from CCBill accounts though, so there may be a glitch :(

DaddyHalbucks 02-14-2007 04:23 PM

Not to be disagreeable, but it sounds like a pretty small statistical sample.

Yup, thought the same 30 signups but only 20 for the referrer would be fishy, but 1 lost signup could be some small glitch somewhere.

The Ghost 02-14-2007 05:27 PM

Can you confirm they were 3 membership sales? If it was 2 membership sales and 1 webmaster referral, that might be a reason it would show credit for 2 sales for you. Unless the program's WM referral is some sort of tiered payout (which most are not), it wouldn't be carried through.

SmokeyTheBear 02-14-2007 06:46 PM

i hear nats being mentioned as failing to pass along refs but i dont hear any names of sites.

Sur ehelps to narrow these things down when you have a name to go by.

No one pays this simpleton much mind. If you do a search on threads he's started, its either threads with few if any replies or threads about sponsors where he's just in over his head.

We ignore him. you should too.

Are they 3 memberships, or 3 sales in general? Again, a new referred webmaster may show up as a sale for $0.00
