How important is LUCK in life?

Just wondering what others think because I think it's more important than I ever realized before.

Reason: I've done some really great things that would surely get me where I wanted to be and like a flash something wild happens and instead of "getting the prize", I'm standing next to the winner in 2nd place with fucking nothing.

This happend so many times!!!

Then it's like I'm doing absolutley fucking nothing and POP! , everything falls into my lap.

I think luck is very important but so is hard work, determination and keeping a positive attitude.

xenilk 02-13-2007 08:08 PM

i believe luck comes with hard work. It's just some kind of bonus.

its like.. yknow when you dont expect *anything* at all... every positive thing that happens to you will be a great addition to your life..

..if you just WANT stuff to happen, you only get disappointed if things dont turn out the way you pictured them in your head.

its important to position yourself in the right place to pick up the luck when it comes along

All right, I agree with everthing everyone said...that's my belief.

But, some of the biggest gains I had in life was when I didn't do shit!!

Explain that!!

It's like I would be better off not doing anything sometimes.

Luck is when preparation meets opportunity

Luck is very important. Anyone who denies it is probably successful and wants to really pat themselves on that back for it. Of course, they are diluted fools struck on themselves.

Like when I bent over to pick up a penny off the sidewalk and the mower shot a piece of wire that embedded itself into the wall where my head was less than a second ago.

No preperation that and luck played a very important part in my life that day.

Heard it and believed it.

Now, check this out.

I'm doing nothing and don't even know what the fucking internet is a few years ago and this guy starts talking to me nd ask if I'd like to buy a domain name.

He's tired of trying to make money with it and just wants $50 for it.
This was when domains were selling for $75 out the box.
I'm like no thanks, I don't even have a compter.

So a couple of years later I get a computer and decided to get a domain name. I try a bunch of names and they are all taken then I remeber the domain the guy tried to sell me. I type it in the whois and it's available.
So I reg it for $35...going price at the time.

Now that domain is the most valuable domain I ever owned.
I've test marketed it and people really want it. It's just a matter of time before I decide to sell it for a nice wad.

Sorry, but there was no skill involved there. The guy just handed it to me.

Yeah, I got waaaaaayyyyyyy too many of those type things.

That's what I'm saying. I should have been dead at least six times already!

No way, did I have preparation to save myself...just pure luck.

At one point I started to really believe that there was a supreme power that had a purpose for me and that I simply could not die yet. I mean most people would have bit the dust on the first time.

Combined with other forces, a little luck is always nice.

mattz 02-13-2007 08:49 PM

hard work at determination out way luck imho

WarChild 02-13-2007 08:52 PM

You make your own "luck" and thinking anything different is pure ignorance.

CuriousToyBoy 02-13-2007 09:15 PM

Henry Ford Snr said it best IMHO ...

That harder I work, the luckier I get

Luck = paying attention to the hints life's giving you. :winkwink:

madawgz 02-13-2007 10:43 PM

In the broadest sense many things in one's life are a consequence of luck, fate, call it what you want. You happen to be at a certain place at a certain time. You meet someone. A conversation takes a particular twist. There can be all kinds of triggers.

I guess many others may plan and control their lives more, but when I look back, a lot of significant things, some which had an impact on me for years, began with chance moments.

Don't all people experience chance moments? I think the main difference lies in taking proper advantage of them. :winkwink:
