Flying MOOSE!! I caught it (pic)

http://www.nofupas.com/moose.jpg

Fairbanks - Alaska
"They were laying new power cables which were strung on the ground for miles. The moose are rutting right now and very agitated. He was thrashing around and got his antlers stuck in the cables. When the men (miles away) began pulling the lines up with their big equipment, the moose went up with them. They noticed excess tension in the lines and went searching for the problem. He was still alive when they lowered him. to the ground. He was a huge 60 inch bull and slightly peeved !"

Crazy shit :upsidedow

SilentKnight 02-13-2007 03:58 PM

you should see the big cushions they put on the front of the Alaska Railroad trains to try not to kill so many moose in the winter time when they go onto the tracks after big snow falls. its insane watching the trains hit moose at full speed and seeing them fly 100 - 200 feet off, sprawled out and doing flips through the air and into the bushes and snow, then walk away.

it was a big issue when i was little as everyone figured out that tons of moose were being hit by trains in the winter. i remember watching all these studies and news reports about different methods they were playing with to reduce the number of kills. seriously... i almost shit myself laughing when they interviewed this spokesperson for the railroad who was talking about the most effective method to date and they cut to a video of a couple moose standing on the tracks with the train approaching them at full speed and whacked them. it looked like they were shot from a catapult!

the funny part was watching this totally surreal video on the evening news and watching the spokesperson talk about how its the best thing for the moose and their safety. it was like watching someone in a suit explain the best way to club baby seals or something.

We all do :winkwink:

edit** apprently he was shot afterwards due to being in distress...

Im sure they didnt have to shoot it, unless it was half paralyzed or something.

What a tragedy
