Our country was founded based on the presumption of innocence. It would be rediculous if they were subjected to that.

I remember when the FBI Lab scandal broke a few years ago, one of the agents said that the polygraph should be outlawed because as a determiner of truth or lie, it is a worthless piece of machinary.

I also read a book about a criminologist that spent thirty years on the job for a state back east and when he first began the job he was a believer in the polygraph but over the years decided the same as the FBI agent.

I believe that it was on 60 Minutes, some years ago, that 60 Minutes arranged a scenario with a jewlery store. They had the owner of the store call in (on different days) about a half dozen different people that were supposed to be known experts in the Polygraph field and he told each that a $30,000 dollar necklace had been stolen.

The owner of the store pointed out to each of them the individual he suspected, but told them to test every employee. After conducting the tests, all of them, except one, said the employee that had been identified to them as being a suspect was conclusively guilty of taking the necklace.

I have concluded that only a fool would submit to a polygraph test.
