Exmasters' gift - $0.29/GB for galleries, or
Adult European Host - hosted in Amsterdam.

You can also take the least expensive (first) virtual plan at DH, see sig for it ...

try hosting mysql related things on a freebsd box and then do it on one of the others and watch the difference.

Guess you make alot more money then I do, so you know better.

Freebsd has some problems with mysql but you can see this problems
only if you're a heavy mysql user which by the specs of the server
you're looking for I wouldn't think so.
At this level freebsd should act as good, even better, as far as mysql is
concerned.

FreeBSD 6.2's mysql performance is excellent with the proper tweaks. Sounds like whoever set up the FreeBSD server you had running MySQL didn't know what they were doing.

teksonline 02-13-2007 01:00 PM

why do everyone buy such over bulked servers?

Some of the biggest most busiest sites in the world are still running on pentium 2 350's with 512mb ram, database and all

teksonline 02-13-2007 01:02 PM

I answer myself... oh because they don't want to compile kernels correctly.. i see... 99% of all hosts wont touch the kernel or know the hardware in any of their machines.. thats why they have to choose those routes and pass the cost on to you
