photoshop gurus. help needed

the logo has a bold white outline. when i try to do that i get rounded corners. i have tried stroke and i have tried outerglow.

so, my question is. what the f am i doing wrong? :helpme

I would duplicate the layer use free-transform to enlarge it a bit and use color overlay to get it the color I want.

it looks like a combination of the font .. its boxy, also try your stroke position to center

Use Illustrator...

Effect > Path > Outline Stroke
