xbox live - 2 people online from same console?

Is this possible does anyone know? Example dead or alive 4 is a streetfighter-like game you can play online against other people, would you need another xbox live subscription for player 2 (local at the same console), or can they not even play with a subscription at the same time as you are?

the 2nd person can only play if he/she has there own xbox live subscription even if he/she is playing on the same xbox thats what pisses me off.

craigant,

Yeah, I was under the impression even if they had it, they couldn't, the only reason being when you "sign in" on Dead or Alive 4, it doesn't give the second player the chance to select an xbox live profile. Do you play Dead or Alive 4?

this is possible. u do not need a second live membership, but maybe it depends on the game.

with gears of war for example, the second player is simply the guest of the first person. he will then have the name of the main player with (1) appended to the name.

I noticed that when playing certain coop games on one console with my son, such as Rainbow Six 3: Vegas, we both have to sign in with live accounts in order to start the match. I just made a free silver account for my son to use, and I signed in under the gold account.

This does depend on what game and what mode in the game you are trying to play.

You can have two people on live at the same time from the same console, be warned though likely your microphone won't work. You can even have two gamertags logged in on the same console, but the microphone will only work for the main one.

Thanks for all the info. :) I'll give it a shot, as far as a silver account, you can just create a free one? I thought they were just slightly cheaper..

How did you get GOW to work like that? I couldnt get both players signed in to play online under my one account.

MM let me think , it's really easy.

Once the main player entered the menu (main menu i believe), then on the bottom left or bottom right you will see something like GUEST (not signed in), or something.

Now the second player needs to use his controller to create a guest account on your xbox, not a live account ,just a guest account, then he needs to sign in using the guest account and then his name on GOW becomes yourname(1).

im not sure if what i said is true, but one thing i know for sure, it is absolutely possible with GOW to have a second player play live under one live account,
it is why you sometimes see players with (1) appended to their name.. i have played many times with friends this way.

try what i said or go to the xbox live GOW forum for a more detailed guide.
