Are there any php programmers that wouldnt mind answering a couple questions for me?

I am in need of some heavy members section administration tools. Features include the below.
  • bandwidth usage tracking PER member account
  • passwordless authentication to content for some members
  • ability to cut off a member if bandwidth usage is too high.

I would love to talk so please hit me up on ICQ. Programming needed ASAP, so if this is something you can do than lets talk money, and if you can help point me in the right direction then that would be very appreciated :)

Thanks!

Your crux is user bandwidth monitoring - good luck!!!
I don't think it's possible, personally - to monitor bandwidth, you need to check in/out packets at the interface, and will not tell you what a single user is using, unless you assign dummy interaces for each user (not recommended).

Alternatively, to use an Apache module, but this will only monitor an IP. Again, not good. A custom hack of the apache module may be possible, since you can set apache variables based on user, but I have no idea how to hack a module.

You could do it another, less accurate way of ignoring all html bandwidth, and just monitor what they are downloading - and assuming that each download goes to completion... dodgy

Its actually cake to track bandwidth usage per user from an apache module
if you use .htaccess auth.

Yeah, that bandwidth thing is tricky. I was talking to one guy who said that could be achieved by somehow adding up the sizes of the files transferred or something like that. I will contact Romans thanks HizAzPhun.

Thanks for the help, please contact me via icq as soon as you can.

I second that. Romans is pretty sharp. I used to use him back when he charged what any eastern european coder would charge (he's Latvian). Now he's been dealing with webmasters with money and he's raised his prices significantly.
