It looks like Blue Cross will cost me 330 a month for the family plan...I'm waiting on the call back from Humana One and if they're not cheaper, I'm going with blue cross..

That is cheap. My father has blue cross federal because he is retired post office, and he pays $350ish per month for the family plan.

BCBS - Family med & dental

$700 per month and it's fucking killing me. Every visit is a co-pay and the prescriptions for my kids (ashma, etc) is still high as hell.

I pay around $350. for just myself with BC/BS

I've got Blue Cross / Blue Shield as well. About $400 for the family.

I use Young Texans plan for my daughter

60$ a month with 20$ copay ... decent coverage

Wow that's fucked...Here in PR, Blue Cross is 175 for an individual plan.

I'm not sure how much it would cost for a family, but I pay $175/month for just me through American Medical. Not too bad, but the regular prescriptions are 50% - generic $20 co pay. I have allergies, so my prescription is about $70 a month. :( (It's the only one that works).

I'm on a blue cross plan that is like 85/month

For a single plan, I'm paying 199/mo for Health Plan of Nevada (local medical PPO/HMO).

I think the cost for me, mrs, 5 kids for medical and dental with Kaiser hmo is around 1400.00 a month or so..

I have BCBS of Michigan. It's $363 for 2 months (that's how they bill me... 2 month incriments).

That's for me alone. No wifie, or kids.

I have the GFY health plan. It costs me $0 per month. If anything happens, I just wait for GFY to setup a paypal, and epassporte fund.

$233 a month for myself and my son who has Autism. Out of almost $50,000 of medical expenses last year related to his diagnosis I only have about $2300 in bills. Not too bad...if only I had the $2300 :1orglaugh

Neurologists are expensive as hell...rediculous co-pay on those visits and the neurologists fees at the hospital when my son was in for tests...INSANE $$$

What about pre-existing conditions? Humana told me that there is a 12 month wait on it and that's IF they approve the condition in the first place.

I would love to...However, I need to make a decision on what I'm going to get within a few days. If it was just me, I'd wait but I gotta get my kids some insurance down here NOW...

And on the same note...my son is now uninsurable with that diagnosis...period. I have to stay in Florida and maintain that BCBS of FL policy because I would never be able to get a policy on him through anyone else ever again.

The wife and I have BC/BS and pay ~$260/mo.

Not the best policy, but she just had surgery and out of her $14,000+ hospital bill, I think I paid ~$130, so it's well worth it.

I can't speak for the BCBS in every other state. But I know for Michigan, they accept everyone. Regardless of your preexisting conditions.

That's why their rates are a bit higher than many other companies in the state. It's because they take everyone. Diabetes, cancer, whatever. You have a lifetime cap of 1 million I believe (like an organ replacement's about that much I guess).

But your rates will not go up during the year if you have some new condition. And you will not be dropped for whatever the horror stories I've heard around are.

There are tradeoff's. Like visits are not covered on my plan. Unless they are doing something in particular. So that's $70. But the co-pays are good for individual. Plus I have had a lot of different things this year done from blood work, to minor surgery, x-rays, other tests. Total paid in 2006..... $79 (other than office visits).

So if you are one of these people who have a hard time finding coverage. Get with your insurance rep. They do not like selling BCBS, but you do not have to wait, and they take everyone. At least in MI.

Kaiser was great first 3 yrs, now every year they raise the rates. If we didnt up our deducable, it would of been 1000 a month.

And who is your rep? Mine didn't even want to get into BCBS.

Well I am a male in the 30-34/35 age bracket. So I think I am $181 a month. But you are billed bi monthly for some reason. But whatever. It comes out to $363 and change.

Trust me. My rep went over BCBS because I persisted, but he kept pushing the other flavors. However, when I was with Ameritech/SBC/TDS for the 8 years in telco after college. I had always had BCBS for insurance. I was always happy with them, so I wanted to go back with them once business took off.

They were one of the more expensive, but I didn't care. If you sit there listening to the true differences between the companies on deductables, caps, and so on. You start to see that the cheaper is not always better. I suppose if you are only looking for major medical, that may be a cheap way to go. But I hate the hastle of dealing, changing, and all that shit. So I spent the better part of a day with my rep to hear all the comparisons.

Even then I still went with BCBS. I do not think they make as much, and even at the end he was still talking about the others plans. But in all fairness. When I asked about BCBS stuff, he gave me the info. He did go over all the plans, it was just obvious his commission was better with some than others.

I am not sure the percentage on the scripts. But I have never paid more than $5/10 per for all of the different one's I had last year. I do know that whatever he had quoted me on that was wrong. I thought he had said something about 50% when we talked. But when I was getting my perscriptions filled at Walgreen's, I was only paying between $5-10.

thats why i didnt switch. I would have saved myself almost 200.00 a month
