Young and old alike...share your thoughts.

Ever hit that point in your life where you take a step or two back and look and say "what am I doing with my life?"

Where you sit and look at yourself and your daily life and wonder what YOU want and how to get there?

I'm in that phase of my life at the moment and I'm wondering how did you figure out what you want....whats important to you...what you want to achieve with your life.

Everyone else seems to come first in my life and I'm finally realizing that I need figure out what I want to do/achieve in my life. Surely many of you have been in this situation in your younger years...what the fuck do I do? :helpme

bleh...i'm sure I'll edit this as I sober up heh.

Theo 08-03-2002 01:17 AM

My current thoughts are 'must go have a dump so I have room for breakfast....hmmmm...what to eat for breakfast....'

I guess other than that I'm happy enough with everything. Last time I had thoughts like your I ended up trying to sell porn full time :)

Paul Markham 08-03-2002 01:25 AM

My thoughts are;

DON'T TAKE YOURSELF SO SERIOUS RMG

It will look better in the morning. If not take a few days off and surf the sea not the web.

Have no idea what I want from life...I've been taking a break from work (porn and the like) to try and get some perspective, but it doesnt seem to be working like I had planned.

Sometimes, but it passes.

I think charly just gave you the best advise. We have 3 years age difference and i can tell you the I have the same thoughts through time. People that tend to worry a lot and take things more serious that they should, do not live a happy life.

DjSap 08-03-2002 02:08 AM

Well I'm too young too know what the point is, right now I'm just doing things that I enjoy...don't really see a "higher" meaning of life, just have fun...

Pornwolf 08-03-2002 02:12 AM

21? Cool you still have time to set a good path easily. It gets harder the older you get. I did this many years ago and it worked like a charm;

Be honest with yourself and ask yourself "What do I love to do?" Do you like web design? Make websites & keep doin what you are doing. Movies? Get in the movie industry. Do you like cars? Start selling or fixing them. Sex? Become a man-whore. Everything you really enjoy as a person has an industry attached to it. Where most people mess up is they are not honest with themselves when it comes to what do they love to do. This is why some people end up in school til 30, come out with a masters and still don't know what they want to do! Saying I want to manage a business isn't an honest answer. Do you think anyone wants to manage a waste removal business instead of a Record company? No.

Don't lie to yourself. Think about it then take steps no matter how large or small towards doing it. Even the smallest steps still put you on the right path! Just start doing something. Make calls. Call the top dogs in the industry you choose. That's how I got my first major job at 15. I knew what I wanted early and I asked for it. {Mind you I practiced on a smaller scale for a couple years prior to asking} Anything is possible!

You seldom get what you go after unless you know in advance what you want.

Be happy you found porn. This is one job that will allow you the freedom to do what you want to by making you money and still giving you plenty of free time. That's the second biggest thing that stops people from getting what they want. That freedom. That's not a problem you have. Just figure out the first problem and find out what you love.

[drunk banter]
sure - from time to time. i have a tendency to focus very strongly on accomplishing goals, putting *everything* else on the backburner.

after years of nothing but absolute commitment to growing my sites and becoming more profitable, i've (not suprisingly) become a very different person. i sometimes wonder what it (and i) will be like with no business to run lol

i love the internet and the online porn biz. and i'm sure i'll always be involved with the internet - but not in such an all-encompassing sort of way. there are too many other things i want to do and have time for :)

Ok amp and everyone else seems to be feeling me on this...I have NO CLUE as to what the fuck I want to do...I was forced to grow up very fast (thats another story) and trying to figure out what the fuck I want to do/accomplish with myself.....for the past year, I've just been going through life just feeling experiences...and most are less than thrilling. Amp what do you mean here? What hit the rest of you in the head to make you decided " this is what I WANT, NEED, and WILL do." ???

Well...I suggest that you take some time for thought and make a list of things that you enjoy doing, prioritize the list, then begin an elimination process to attain a short list, then prioritize again.

The real key is to attempt to get into doing something that you actually enjoy doing, and go from there.

Many people place a high value on money and material items, but that should not be the priority. The priority should be doing something that you enjoy doing and you will not work a day in your life, as each day will be enjoyable.

A famous 20th century inventor, who became a billionare, said that money was never a concern to him; he simply did what he enjoyed doing and money became a by product.

This could be the case with anyone.

The career that I chose certainly was not for the money, but being frugal and making a few key investments, I now live comfortably.

For me, taking a nice long lesiurely drive alone in my truck, pack a buncha killer CD's and hit the open road to let my mind wander to the thoughts that are normally buried when were all dealing with day to day grind of the biz.

Its totally inexpensive too, since all you gotta pay for is gas and a peach snapple or 2 while out on the road.

I recommend also, more deserted areas to do this, since heavy traffic and mind wandering arent that good as an idea to mix bro.

Try it out, let me know what ya think

Lates!

I can honestly say I am happy with what im doing now. Even though I recently quit the necessities of a 9-5 life I now have the freedom not only to make a lot more money but control what I am doing. Being a marketing major in college all I ever wanted was freedom to provide a simple supply and demand...so now I keep surfers happy by selling them a piece of the american dream..a piece of black ass

It doesn't matter what age a person is when they ask themselves that question. Also doesn't matter whether they're clocking 24K or 2.4M a year. Its just one of those key moments in life one has to discover themselves. Sometimes it leads to maturity, less ego, and more personal contentment... sometimes it leads somewhere else. But honest moments of self-contemplation should be a welcome event rather than...a scary one. :)

remember the old song: "don't worry - by happy"

...and follow the wise buddhist rule of living in "the here and now" = don't ponder over lost opportunities [there never are!] or worry what the future might bring [you can't predict]!

Both things might sound hollow if you're down - but never the less they are true! If you you life in the moment and make the best of it [don't 'try'], be there with/for your friends [even if you have only two], and don't take notice of things you don't have...

A word of advice: don't think about it too long and hard. The last time I did, I overdosed on my medication and jumped off a bridge. Somehow, I survived.

To this very day I still contend that THEY made me do it. Yes, THEY made me do it I tell ya!

Clovis 08-03-2002 03:54 PM

Set short, medium and long range goals for yourself. Then bust your nuts making them a reality. You wont have time to worry about where your at or where you've been because you will be too busy concentrating on where you are going. Enjoy the ride its pretty damn short.

good question RMG, when you get around 40 (if your a male that is) your question takes on and entirely new meaning, and hits you hard. Won't matter who you know, how much you've done or what you have. "Things change" you can count on it...
