My thoughts of the Grammys Tonight...
 

Just not as good as it used to be. What is happening to Television.
Did the Internet really take over.

TV used to be fun to watch.

Oh well, maybe I'm just getting old. :(

I think the internet has provided an amazing venue for innovation in programming (see: PinkBroadcastingCompany.com). But as the Long Tail gets its attention online, the networks have less financial incentive to cater to anything but the same ol' lowest common denomintaor.

Forget TV. What's happening to music? Why are Black Eyed Peas winning a Grammy for "My Humps"? Why is Chamillionaire winning a Grammy for "Ridin' Dirty"? Why didn't Justin Timberlake win for Best Pop Album considering that "FutureSex/LoveSounds" is the best pop album in over a decade?

That too...

Lionel Richie singing "Hello" great song, great artist but come one, we've been hearing that song for 20 Years.

My favorite thing of the Grammys this year was the Musical Chevy Commercial. :1orglaugh

I was glad to see Rick Rubin win so many awards for such diverse artists as the Dixie Chicks and the Red Hot Chili Peppers...

Also I thought it was pretty telling the change in the US political climate that the Dixie Chicks (altho not a fav of mine musically) won some top awards when just a few years ago they were boo'ed and banned from a lot of venues in the US for speaking out on Bush.

It's not as good as it used to be, but then neither is the talent pool. The fact that so MUCH attention was placed on Justin Timberlake :1orglaugh is a testament to this fact.

Loved seeing the Chilli Peppers perform even if they didn't sing the controverseal "Dani California". Loved Mary J Blige's performance along with James Blunt's. And John Mayer's guitar solo was an unexpected treat.

I'm starting an all male pop country group...
